came across 31E bridge Thursday t noon and water was muddy.
Only a 4' rise? Cumberland has risen 11.5' in the past 2 weeks.
If you find schools of small shad , crappie will be close
Yeah we were fishing below wolf creek dam on the 26th and down around crocus on Christmas found good numbers of trout and they were hardly generating at all. We are gonna go to the honey hole tomorrow will post pictures if we have success.
No pics caught 27 keepers biggest was about 14 inches.
never fished Barren, I would like to go after the hybrids sometime
Just talked to someone who was on the water there today, muddy.
Wrong thread
Had 30 today... gonna be back in the morning.
Did you fish over in Peter's creek?
Nope, Walnut creek almost to Browns ford.

Speaking of pallets. I have a darn near unlimited supply at work. If anybody wants some to make beds with PM me and we can make it happen. I am going to try and get some out as my old stuff is nearly gone. About every five years I have to get serious about it and get some stuff put out. I hope to start in on it after duck season is over.
Slabseeker, by chance do you have a picture of the front of that boat? It look like my old one that I sold to a guy over on 240 in Plano.

There it is with the duck blind I built for it.
I've looked and don't have a good picture. It's a 1989 Panfish Pro with a Tracker/Johnson of the same year, 25 HP. My son bought for me from a guy who lived in Scottsville that fished the Cumberland river. At that time it had a tiller trolling motor on the front, and one Humminbird fish finder. I remember standing on the shore of Lake Erie as we looked out over the prestigious Cleveland Yatch Club, with all its boats, when I asked one of the members if any of those boats were for sale. He looked at me and said, every boat you se out there has a price. Fellas, my boat isn't for sale, the memories alone are priceless.

AMEN
One of the BEST Statements I've heard in some time!!!!!
Slab, not my old boat then. I bought it from a guy in bowling green that used it at reelfoot. It served me well until I got mixed up in this duck hunting business. For a straight up fish catching boat the PF models are hard to beat. Mine had a mercury 25 on it. Once I had it choked and started once for the day I never had to leave that front seat, everything was within easy reach.
Then when I sold it, it went back to bowling green to the guy out on 240.
I've got it rigged with a V2, two fishfinders, I can longline, spider rig, vertical jig, and pull crank baits, talk about perfect. I'm now working on a contraption so when I whistle at my Jeep, it backs itself down the ramp, and into the water. Well that's on my bucket list anyway.
You run a monument or countertop business?
No but I do happen to know the owner of Southern Kentucky Granite. He gives me the scraps in trade for some fillets, which is also how I get the duct tape, and the wood for the beds. The only money I have in them is in the screws for the bottom frame and the peneumatic staples for the uprights. There's gas involved too but I drive past both the pallet factory and the granite shop anyway so it's a wash.
If your looking to make your own honey hole you can call your own, Fish & Wildlife has a big pile, around 500, Christmas trees in the parking lot at the Port Oliver boat ramp. You'll need some nylon rope and a few rocks from the shoreline. They get to be snaggy so make sure you've adjusted you depth finder so your not leaving jigs behind. Use nylon rope, it won't rot
For whatever reason this year Lowes must have bought way too many cut trees. I bet they had close to 50 a few days after christmas. KDFWR posted on facebook about accepting trees so I let them know if they had a trailer they might get those from lowes.
We have a hard time getting our pallets picked up at work. I will probably start loading them up a few at a time after duck season goes out to start making stake beds.
Every year KDFWR puts fish hides out on our lakes. Hundreds of them. They collect trees from all three of our local Lowes, and Home Depot then take them to the lake, along with blocks and rope, just to keep our smiles in tune and a thump on our rods. Thanks to Eric, Kala, Philip, and Mark for the work they do. :highfive:highfiveHere's a site that will give you an idea of what all they do. Just click on your lake, once on the map of the lake, click the brushpil for individual waypoints. Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Lakes with Fish Attractors
Nothing for Cumberland ?
I don't know if it's ever been part of the program.
Your right, doesn't need it, there's almost too much cover now.
Probably several thousand acres
There are areas where the trees are too thick to fish
It's going to be wild in another year or so, all those protected spawning/ nursery areas
I have a couple Christmas trees but no place to put them.
All the best spots are covered in bushes
