I met another CC member!

Back before Christmas, I met another CC member. He and I live about 40 miles apart. We had exchanged a couple of emails, and decided we should meet. We met at a fast food joint and had about 30 minutes to talk, exchange experiences and ask questions before work schedules got in the way.

Wow, I am glad I got to meet Chuck Haley. What a nice fellow! We plan to wet a hook together, hopefully in the near future.

Before parting, we found out we attended the same high school, he was a couple of years ahead of myself. Who would have thought that!?*

Chris, it was my pleasure! Thank you for the kind words and posting this. It may inspire others to reach out and connect with other fisherman on here. They're really are some nice guys on Crappie dot com.......especially yourself. I have been a member here for over 8 years and have meet several other nice guys from this forum as well. I recently meet Rick J who lives in the same area as me. Good Stuff and I fished together for several years and searched out many fishing spots around us.

Again thanks for posting this and I look forward to "hooking up" (literally) with you in the VERY near future. Happy New Year to you and all my new and old C.C friends.

Chuck is a great guy and a GREAT fisherman.

You'd be surprised how often I hear this. And I'm not trying to be arrogant or brag. It's just a fact. I attribute it to the site's focus on being "Family Friendly" (unlike so many other websites and even social media). I am very proud of the website and our members. Crappie fishermen are the best.

Great post. I have met some great people that live within 10 miles of me and have a great friendship because of crappie.com. Not to mention all the others I have met all over.

Yeah Chuck is a great guy. I bought some rods from him a while back and talked to him on the phone several times. He is a very knowledgeable fisherman. Like Newly said great post.

I'm just not sure what to think about Chuck....He throws marker buoys in the Lake!! Great guy for sure!

Slab you have an awesome very user friendly sight and have learned a lot in short period of time and look forward to meeting many of the guys in my area. As I have gotten older and from many interests it is getting so I would rather Crappie fish than any other activity and so this is perfect for me!

Go CC and it's members. Hopefully meet a few locals in March when I get down to central fl and my two main fishing buddies are joining CC now.

Ive been meaning to comment on this for a while, but kept on forgetting since im always on the go and dont sit down for more than 5 minutes much!!

Anywho one day when i was a little chippy chap bored in High school, i stumbled upon this site some how. I want to say around 1999-2000. It was brand new with little to no activity. I was one of the 1st original members when it first popped up. When Ed changed domains (approx back in 2004) thats when CDC became a hit. I started out as a die hard basser. This site converted me to a die hard crappie angler. Then over the years, I converted myself to a die hard Striper wrangler.

Ive met some amazing people since day one. Some I now consider very good friends. A handful dropped off and moved on to bigger and better things. A few.......well I still kind of wonder about them!! ha

Every year I try to meet a few new CDC members by throwing an open boat trip for anyone wanting to get a workout on my boat. This winter was no different. Met and reunited with some more new CDC friends, AND meeting a few new ones on the water especially just on my last trip. Ran into Madmax and another guy who i know ill be adding to my tight network of fishing friends in the forseeable future. I cant name everyone on this site that ive fished with/talked to because id for sure leave someone off.

If it wasn't for Ed, and CDC, I would have not met the people who I know fish on a regular basis and call "good friends". Also, id probably still fish for trash fish bass!

Before you give Slab the BIG HEAD.......There are several folks working hard that keep this site going like a fine oiled machine for him.....and we appreciate him paying the bills lol:biggrin

You're right "G", it's not me, it's all of you. The members and more specifically the moderators that keep Crappie.com a safe and secure place free of spam, and keeping it Family Friendly. Speaking of spam, since "G" has personally reviewed and approved each new member, we have had NO SPAM. Well, maybe one snuck in, but he caught that quick too. How long have you been approving new members "G", I know it's been many years, but I'm not sure how long. And there are tons of "bad actors" that want on here just to spam us. Reviewing them manually has been the only way to keep it clean and I thank you for all your work "G", I know it ain't easy (very time consuming).

A little over 8 years now

Met LSL Angler Mark who has a house on Lake Stl where we just bought condo, he is just around the corner from us and he invited me over to meet him and his lovely wife. Looking forward to fishing with him and with many of the members. So many willing to share what has made them successful. Love this site.
