The body of some fish even being same length as others 1 fish is just a lot better fish than the other. Of course the big ones we all call slabs. But I judge smaller fish too and call smaller fish slabs.
All crappie over 14 inches .
A 10 inche slab eats just as good as the bigger slabs
In Smithville anything over 8 3/4 inchs !
I call Crappie a slab over 13", although a 12" Crappie is nice.
For me it totally depends on the day! Some days a 13" is a slab to me and on others a 9" is! :)

For Wyatt and Darrin, 14-15", Dexter and I is 10".
all keeper crappie are delicious but 12 + are slabs in my group.
Any fish in my live well must be a slab. Cause a slab of tarter sauce, a slab of butter, or a slab of grease gonna be good.

well I'm not sure, I have caught 9in crappie on Truman that were bigger in weight than 11 in crappie on Stockton, so guess it would depend on the lake, and the local custom of speech, I say anything over 1lb is a slab.

If it's bigger than 12', then that's a slab.... Fishing Truman Lake and some of the lakes in Oklahoma, I had to change my definition to length and weight. Those OK crappie are heavier but not quite the length of Truman.

Once filleted you can't tell the difference between a 10.5" and a 12", they just get bigger in the head/tail.
