I think im gonna start fishing for Sammamish smallies in febuary. Cassidy Largies in march then slough crappies in late march. Then once the bass and crappie start going into prespawn in late march/early april i'll fish some local lakes. Im gonna go get some prespawn walleyes here in april too. While im at that im gonna catch some prespawn smallies.
I am thinking about hitting the early pre spawn for bass down at duck lake in mid feb.
There's a small seeps lake that I like to fish in late March for walleyes and channel cats so I may start there. Come early April though May it'll be lake Union smallies and largemouth followed by the crappie spawn on the ponds and lakes near Federal Way.
Nothing pisses me of more than watching Al Linder catching slabs on TV and I look outside only to see wind and rain :D. I can't wait for late March ;).
Well spring is here now cause the frogs are out here at my house. So are the skunks. It hit a high of 66 degrees today in duvall. so another 2 1/2 weeks and i'll be bass fishing.
I am starting to plan out a late march trip to silver lake in cowlitz, but i am not sure if the main resort is open i need to give them a call and find out. And yeah al linder always pisses me off and so does BIll dance have you seen thoes bass he catches. Dang. BUt even though it is raining, like bassman observed it is getting warmer. so excited.
THe bassmasters are the ones that make me jealous, they get those 50,000 dollar bass boats, all the tackle they would ever need and ,and huge paychecks if they win tournaments.
yeah sponsers just give them stuff. Jerks.
lol really. It hit a brief high of 70 today in duvall. This is just crazy. Hopefully it warms up enough so i can go bass fishing here soon.
man i konw i am getting a little to excited about, if it keeps up for another week we might be looking at an early pre-spawn. Where do you do bass fishing up there?
Well just about every and any lake that has em in it. but my favorites in no particular order are Beaver lake,Pine lake,Lake Sammamish, Lake Alice, Lake Cassidy,Lake stevens ,chain lake and this one slough.
you fish lake stevens huh. I have fished that lake for kokanee and trout for the last few years and have herd of some good bass and crappie coming out of there too.
i love it, "And this one slough". sneaky sneaky.
Well its so small i dont want it to get overfished because its got a population problem as it is because it gets flooded every winter.
Lake Stevens Has some monsterous perch in it too. Last time I was bass fishing there I Caught a 14 incher on a 5 inch senko. Ive only seen a few perch larger than that. The largest ive ever seen was 16 inches.
I understand about the slough i have some waters like that too, and Lake Stevens it is a nice lake, the only problem that i have is all the boat traffic when the temp gets warmer. i am thinking of trying some crappie there this spring, know anything about it?
Well Its big, got lots of brushpiles, and its really clear.Got some nice bass in it too.
yeah i have heard of fishing the lilys over in the corner of the lake by the bridge for some crappies and as well for bass. And it is a deep lake down to 150+.
Right by the bridge is where the brushpiles are too.
good, thanks.
Another thing to try is the docks with lily pads. Thats where i caught the 14 inch perch.
I think that it is going to be a definate trip. i Might start early in the mornig for some koks then move to the brush piles an lilys for crappies, bass and perch.
If you really fish for bass seriously there a 5 inch senko is good.
great how do you usually rig it weightless, split, drop shot?
Weedless weightless texas rig on 10lb flourocarbon
thanks
I fished Trout Lake in Fed. Way on Monday and didn't get a bite. T.V. fishing must be the official winter sport here in Washington. I've been watching a lot of OLN also, and I've got an itch like you won't believe. I've heard rumors of fish still biting at Lk. Sawyer.
The water is just starting to warm up on the smaller lakes so i would think the fish would start biting.
yea its been warming the last few days but i think another cold front might be moving in
yeah but that cold front will still be warmer than usual and before you know it it will blend into spring. And I too have been glued to OLN and books and magazines anything to fix my hunger. im putting in a new livewell, hey i might even put fish in it.maybe. well in mid feb i am going back to duck the bass should start to be on the pre-spawn mode and i might even find a few crappies. the last time i went down i got skunked. not a nibble but while i was trolling for trout over some of the deeper water i noticed a big black spot on my fishfinder and that can mean only one thing crappie..or bluegill. I will see what happens and if i get on some fish this is where you will find out.
If you hear anything about sawyer let me know.
