29° to start the morning at Wateree,

But the sun came out around 11 and the fish cooperated for us some. And the temp went up to around 60° by 1ish.
Meet Don and Tim at 7:30ish at the ramp and we putted out to find some crappies. Wind around 5 to 7 MPH to start and picked up thought the day.
Found a few fish.
I believe the counts were 4 crappie, 4 catfish (one about 17lbs.)
2 Stripers, and 2 perch. We all had a few break offs but all in all was a good day.
Don was still under the weather so we called it about 1:45 and headed in.
Thanks fellas for a good time with good friends.
The fish are just a bonus.
Will get some pics and post later.

I did not keep count to cold. I made it home okay and put the boat to bed. Had fun and we will try it again soon. Don

The pics will have to wait until tomorrow EMC. To tired and cold to clean them tonight. No heat in the old truck.

I didn't get up until 9 am. Had ice on the deck railing and table. I'm glad I wasn't with you'll cause my butt would have been cold too! Glad you'll did get some fish and had a good time. I've launched at 17 degrees and thrown the net for bait. Ice all over the boat

The coldest I have ever launched was 13 on Clarke hill a couple years ago. Caught one fish as soon as lines,hit the water. I begged not to get another bite cause I did not want to get my hands wet again. It was that cold

Hope you get to feeling better Don. Nothing better than a little fish catching therapy,, well ceptt Mabey 20 degrees warmer and catching fish. It sure was cold today. It's good to hear y'all didn't freeze on the lake yesterday, I got cold watching the football games :) Great that y'all were able to catch some keeper fish and Don I hope you get better soon.

As promised here are a few pics of our catch.
Could not find my scales but the big cat is around15 lbs or so.
Belly was full of snail shells.

Yep! Your brains were almost frozen. I see a different count on fish too! Glad Don didn't try to count with the meds he's been on. LOL You guys did good! Thanks for the pictures. :highfive

hey we had fun caught fish and was not sitting in front of the tube. That cat was fun on a 14 ft southern rod. That is the biggest cat I have ever caught as I do not target cats. Gotta put a bigger net in the boat as that was a net full. I am gonna spend the day tomorrow reorganizing the boat and respooling some rods. Hope everybody has a good week working or not. Me I prefer not to work.

don, it was intereting trying to get that cat to fit in the net. I am glad you all had fun, we need tohit some of my other spots Next time.

That was some of the finest net work I've ever seen.
Talk about a tight squeeze.
Looking forward to some of your other spots too.
No worries about me tell where they are when you blindfolded me and spun the boat seat around. I didn't know which way I was heading.

i dont think im going as its supposed to be cold and raining, may be hard to keep up body temp, i might have to wait for the 23rd.

Fellas I had fun sat but with the forecast I saw I will not make it out. High around 40 20 to 25 mph winds and rain. In my younger days I might have gone but since I turned 70 I have gotten a little smarter. Going to relax and enjoy the day. Got to figure how I want to rearrange my depth finder setup on the boats and figure out where to put the garmin. We have got a lot of fishing trips ahead of us so it want hurt to miss a day.

Fish pics got me stirred up but that lil box of goodness Tore Me up.!!!!

im with you don, i would rather have snow than the rain. I recommend a couple ram mounts to get your electronics aranged.

swimming infers taking the initiative to submerge yourself, pretty sure no south carolinian would do that willingly lol

Yeah I did it in Murray a couple years ago. Cold I can dress for. Rain and 25 mph winds say only a fool would get out in it. I can guarantee that I will see a bass boat on Murray tomorrow. They just any teaching them.

Of course there will be bass boats. Now i love fishing and will fish any opportunity i get. I also like to learn how to fish in all conditions through experience, but even i have a line. I honestly think the experience for their bass tournaments is why they are always fishing no matter what. Ive fished a couple amateur walleye tournaments and realized tournament fishing is not for me as i realized at the end of the day the only thing missing that day was having fun fishing.

Don, When I spent the week at Santee this fall one of my buds wanted to fish for catfish. All I had was my long handled crappie net. We lost several in the lily pads but he finally got a big one to the boat. I had all but forgotten that someone gave me one of the Boga type grips, actually this one was made by Berkley, and I used it to lip that cat and he calmed down and came right in the boat. We got several more and my buddy bought him one of the grips soon as he got back to Lexington. Takes up almost no room and really works well on big fish.Attachment 254635
I've had it laying in the boat for a year and never thought to use it until then. (Don't work too good on Crappie.LOL)

Ray that is a good idea if you are targeting cat. If we would have had to depend on that trying to get the cat to the boat on a 14 ft rod. He would not have made it. I can't run around the boat like these younger guys. One thing that I got in the champion is more storage than I can use so I got plenty of room to store one and I already have an extra one
