Black Lake 12/16/16

I took off early from work today and hit The Stretch on Black Lake and picked up 16 keepers and threw back probably close to 20 little ones. Caught all of 'em in 19 fow 16-18 FD tight lining double jigs with Bobby Garland threadfin shad, water temp 46 degrees about 8" high and falling. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...1157006a59.jpg

I'm gonna have to look into upgrading my fish finder. I've got a cheapo Garmin that every place it showed fish I couldn't get a tap but at one time I caught 6 in row in the same spot and it never marked a single fish!! Duckcomando, let me know how you like your new helix 7si. That might be my next investment

When you say "stretch" lol do you mean past the pot hole lol? Ill be up that way myself after the first week in Jan.

Nice catch brother and I have the Helix 7si and love it! I have never had a problem with it marking fish that wasn't there, I think it may be a matter of adjustment of your unit to filter the clutter out unless your unit is old.

Welcome aboard parkj5! Yep, what we call The Stretch is the long deep straight a way north of the Pot Hole and north of The Ditch. It's one of the few places north of the hwy 9 bridge that the salvania hasn't taken over.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...80320fd3de.jpg
It was up there at the 1st of this year that I saw a bunch of fisherman (and women) and I noticed a lot of them had matching hats and jackets with crappie on them and crappie stickers on their boats. That's when I found crappie.com and joined. I've learned a lot from a bunch of nice folks on here. I look forward to seeing your future post and pics

Thanks lahotwood it is beautiful place. It depends on the wind what the salvania will be like day to day. Some days you've got to fight it at the launch.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...81109c61f7.jpg

But once you hit the channel it's mostly clear. I'm lucky, I've got a little camp a couple of miles north that I just zip down Black Lake Bayou so usually don't have to deal with the grass at all

I have fished that stretch every year with Mr. Billy and Larry Smith for several years now. I am working at the moment but will be home first week in Jan. Soon after that you will see my blue ranger with me on the front deck with a jig pole in my hand. Hope to see yall their..

Oh yeah, I'll be out there. Be sure to get your stickers from "Slab" and put 'em on your boat motor. That's the 1st thing I look at now when I pass by folks fishing. Good luck to yall, see you in Jan :fish
