Cant go fishing, installed transducer cable correctly on minnkota
Well, this was another job from my last servicing when they also installed my new electronics. They did great on the unit on the console and picked out a very sturdy mount to bring the unit out farther from the windshield

Problm was they insisted the us2 transducer would work with the helix 7 si which i told them it would not. I already had the mounting hardware to mount the included transducer on the minnkota. The servicing center also would not install the transducer cable the way i just installed it as they said it would void warranty so i said i would do it myself, this minnkota is three years old so didnt know there still was a warranty. I began with:
removing cap by removing the four bolts and removing shrink wrap tubing on brown wire and unclipping the red, black and brown wires. I also have the additional transducer wire from the us2 for my old unit.

Then i removed the long screw under the head unit with self threading nut
with allowed me to take the entire head unit off the shaft feed the disconnected wires through. I also removed the upper clamp also.

Then i mounted the helix 7 si transducer to the bottom of the minnkota and held transducer cable in place with zip tie at the bottom of the shaft.

Then i released the minnota to lower the entire unit out of the bracket and then fed the transducer cable in the groove of the shaft through the hole of the minnkota bracket with the shaft. This was a two person job to guide the wires through while the other fed the entire shaft and lower unit back through the bracket.my wife was a trooper helping me with this.

I then lock the unit back into place, and put the upper clamp back on feeding the tranducer cable through the upper clamp. Make sure the notch is down in the upper clamp. I had to go back and correct that mistake after putting the notch up. Then is time to reinstall the head unit of the minnkota with the transducer cable running through the top clamp but not the head unit. The red and black wires just snap back together. The brown does also but i got new shrink wrap tubing and fed over brown wires before snappingg back together. I then you sed a butane torch and heated up the shrink wrap tubing to mimick what minnkota did originally.

Now your new transducer cable is loose running along the notch in the shaft. Before i went farther, i hot the unlock on the ipilot and turned on briefly to make sure it functioned as it should. Now i began laying silicone in the notch, with my transducer cable, using zip ties ever couple inches to allow the silicone to set overnight. Notice the minnkota is unlocked and notch is facing up, my wife is holding this as the silcone will run out of the notch otherwise.

Now i ran the transducer cable through the coiled minnkota cable that runs from the head unit to the base mount. This is located near to where my helix 7 si is mounted in the bow on a ram mount.
Attachment 253547
Now i just need to buy another tube of silicone to finish up the groove in the shaft, finish zip tying, and cut zip ties after setting the silicone overnight. Very easy install and now i dont have to worry about the slack in the transducer cable snagging or the ipilot not being able to deploy properly due to the auxillery transducer cable. Now i can use my side imaging in the bow. I hope this helps out someone as this was a pain typing on an ipad. I actually followed a youtube video that showed this process. Tim
