WOW!!!!
Is there a comparison of the same pics in each freq?
Looks good, when?
The web page shows December.
Notice the frequencies in the images ...
1200kHz CHIRP fixed and 1175Khz - 1275kHz CHIRP sweep ...

Sounds like they aren't really charging a lot more for it, but it will be interesting to see an actual user post comparison non-marketing shots. Getting back into the boat game (small scale) once i get into my new house, so I will be looking for a single unit with a modest price. All brands welcome :)
Here's a few more screenshots of HB Mega Imaging I have found ...

Look's great. There is no where a fish can hide anymore. The dedicated DI will be hard to resist compared to the blended I'm use to.

CHIRP/Side Imaging/Down Imaging/DualBeam PLUS
455kHz Side Imaging provides 800 ft of side to side coverage.
455kHz Down Imaging works to a depth of 400 feet.
1.2 MHz Side Imaging provides 250 feet of side to side coverage.
1.2 MHz Down Imaging works to a depth of 125 feet

Anyone know if the price points for the new Mega units are going to be comparable with Gen 1 units. Have an 899 si at console and was just looking to add a bow mount to hook up to my MK us/2 on bow. If price comparable maybe I upgrade console and just hookup 899si head unit on bow. Glad to see the Helix 7's now can be networked....

:dono:dono:donoI've been thinking about this new transducer. The talk is that it going to have separate Piezo elements for mega scanning and the regular kHz ,that were all used to.side and diwn imaging.seems to me that that transducers going to be pretty crowded, with all that in there. Also seems to me,if that transducer is a low Q transducer,it would be pretty expensive to bulit? ? dono:yikes
It's my understanding the new Mega xducer is very similar to the ONIX SI xducer ...maybe a smidge longer ...
2 side pointing SI pieoes capable of 455kHz/800kHz/1200kHz fixed and CHIRP ...
1 down pointing DI piezo capable of 455kHz/800kHz/1200kHz fixed and CHIRP ...
1 2d piezo capable of 83kHz/200kHz fixed and CHIRP ...
1 temp probe ...
I have found no info on Q factor yet ...
Rickie
Not for sure that this transducer even exist .no one seams to have actually seen it.:yikes
Might not be a problem Robert, as the higher you go in frequency the least likely you are to have the voltage spike's harmonics replicate in higher multiples.
1.2 MHz would be less susceptible to RFI because the PWM circuits operate at a much lower frequency IMO.
Time will tell!
I agree, I've had a lot of issues with RFI on my Helix 12DI using anything over 455KHz.
I usually use 175-186KHz on 2D to avoid any noise.
But 1200KHz is an "odd" multiple so let's hope for the best.
I'm sure you'll have one long before I will, my budget is tapped out for the foreseeable future due to employer policy changes.
I'll keep playing the lottery though.
There's no mega on the di units.most likely a di unit would be used at the bow ,with the transducer mounted on the trolling motor. (Could be the reason for there not being mega):dono:dono:dono
Yep - the Mega SI units are thought to have a dedicated DI element for all 3 MSI sizes, Rickie & I had a discussion about that.
It seems they have 2 different XDCRs listed on HB's site - but Rickie's contact said there's only one.
Doug Vahrenberg is supposed to get some MSI XDCR pics up soon.
Me too!
Any ideals as to what this is,in the circled area? http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psmwmirlyd.jpg
Looks like there is something on the bridge.I circled it.what does it look like to you?http://i826.photobucket.com/albums/z...psnvcslasb.jpg
I'm not up to speed on sailing ship rigging, but my guess is that it may be anchor rigging.

I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BROOM THAT WIFE LOST,I MEAN THAT I THREW OVERBOARD WHEN SHE MADE ME USE IT:Rofl
I thought the Mega. picture was taken by doug .I believe I was wrong.it appears that doug doesn't have the g2 yet
Not sure I'm seeing the entire benefit of DI, over 800 kHz?
