It's deer hunting season. Be back soon.

Yep, no crappie here...move along now
That's because Locator79 has caught all of them .
This used to be an awesome forum but it went downhill and now it is useless
I still check it everyday, but just don't have a lot to report, since I don't get out like I use to.
Anybody wanna talk about plastic sandwich bags or Neely Henry?
Tourneys and lurkers put a tight lip on most
WOW! I am busting my butt at this time of the year working and finally log on and see this posting!!! Well,,,you asked for it and here goes as some of you won't like my comments. But first,,I get paid and fish for 4 months while getting paid,,so I make all the postings with pics,,yep,,gravy train job...but by July,,the job finally kicks in and I travel alot to tons of trade shows etc,,and now I log on after 2-3 weeks and see this question. Heck no this forum isn't broken, but,,WELCOME TO THE INDIANA FORUM. And I will tell you my opinon as to why you would ask this question. Remember,,,now,,as I upset someone,,its just my opinion. But,,,its the Indiana Forum on the awesome Crappie.com forum of which I really love. but,,back to Indiana.
1. We don't have tons of water,,so most you guys,,never report true reports on fishing, cause you don't want anybody fishing your water or spots. Come on, Slab has even offered prizes for pics..postings,,etc,,,to build it up...but its true..Are you afraid,,someone might catch more fish than you and fish your spot out? Yep,,is the answer..but guys,,,,you can take a dude fishing,,and HE still has to find and catch the fish!!!!
2. Now this is going to cut deep. Number 2. Lets face it,,ever since Indiana Slab Master quit posting how everybody caught their fish, posting fishing reports, catches, and even pics on the forum..THEY want everybody to go to their weigh ins. They want everybody to go to their web site. They want everybody to join their club. Did I say club,,or is it a Tourney Trail??? Great use of the indiana Forum and we the members of the forum lost alot of nice information, when they went cold and still mouth'd and to me, that is one sided as all get out..but hey!! This is just my opinion,,RIGHT??? So don't take it serious if I cut someone to the quick!! Remember also,,,if you add money to fishing and club tournaments, money creates and changes a Club and its members and their actions. I know this from years ago, in building Indiana Bass Fed. and fishing the most early tourneys of Ray Scott, when they were only 50 and 100 bucks to enter and there wasn't a big payout back then. It was all friendly back then till the purses skyrocketed.
3. We in Indiana have no get togethers like the other state forums. Where is the comradery in teaching fishing and having friendly get-togethers in Indiana??? So is Indiana forum truly teaching and supporting each other in fishing technics? A few of us are...but,,,its only a few and you know who you are in your postings and I thank those that do great postings. Keep it up.
I do have to appoligize as I haven't been on the forum. Tis the season I am working alot, and trying to do alittle deer hunting and so you haven't had any postings from me. Its still the best forum in the world and you can learn learn learn from others. You have the Main Crappie forum, you have all the other state forums you can participate in. You can band together and work to make Indiana better. You can even maybe join Indiana Slab Masters and if there are enough of you joining it,,you can change it also. You can also start a new club if you want. And,,I will post,,I promise,,come spring with pics,,with educational postings hoping to get others into fish as I have nothing to fear cause I still have a freezer full of crappies (ask Billbob :cheers2) and eat them each week now. All of my postings hasn't kept me from catching fish!!! And!!! this forum is what YOU MEMBERS..... make of it so make it better!!!
Also, support the advertisers and sponsors of this forum by buying their products. It keeps it strong. Now flame me all ya want! :Rofl
I'm here. I haven't been on here for almost a year. Between tournaments and the high fishing pressure on Indiana lakes, most guys don't say a word anymore. Most guys are using social media to post pictures and some reports. Indiana has very high crappie pressure with the least amount of productive waters. Once 1 guy shares a good fishing report, watch out! the boat ramp will be full the next day. Most of the productive waters I have fished for years are really in bad shape now with all the fishing pressure and no size limit on crappie in Indiana. Most waters are not managed properly by our DNR and are in terrible shape to support the guys who only fish for eaters. I usually give fishing reports on Facebook for those who I want to share info with and not the whole world who just wants to steal your spots and take limits home for dinner. I love Crappie.com but it's just a different world now with endless social media. Just my opinion but most would have to agree. Fish On!
I always enjoyed reading your your fishing reports when you used to post a lot on here. However, you and I both know because of your attention to the tournaments and the desire to win, you primarily don't do any fishing reports anymore and give anything away due to other competitors in the tournaments. Same goes for the other tournament fishermen that used to participate in reporting for a lot of years on here. That a fact! And I don't blame you or anybody that fishes the money tournaments in Indiana as it would be crazy to give fishing reports while fishing the money tournaments. Good luck in your tourneys as we all miss your fishing reports.
Whoa guys I didn't start this thread to cause arguments
1 I just wondered why it's so quite.
2 when I fish up at Patoka it's mostly at the handicapped pier as I have a Buddy that's wheel chair bound.
3 No matter where you're favorite spot is telling an area isn't going to hurt much. We all know fish move around and while they're here today tomorrow they'll be someplace else. Isn't that why you pre-fish for tournaments? If that wasn't the case then pre-fishing would be a waste of time.
good fishing to all of you.
For 12-14 yrs long ago I used to fish bass tourneys. Old habits are hard to break. I still catch myself when taking the boat out of the water, cutting the baits off my lines so that nobody sees what I was using. When other fishermen walk up to me to ask how I did, I find myself commenting still, that today's fishing was so so with nothing much in the cooler or live well. I even sometimes haven't posted here to keep quiet about my fishing. We all do it from time to time. Think I will drag the boat out of the garage and go fishing this weekend as it's going to be hot for deer hunting so I can post something. Lol
Haven't posted anything lately myself but not been out fishing either. Check in every while and figured a lot of people switched over to hunting like I did. Hope to get out and fish a couple more times myself. Sorry you think this site is worthless Jim but I absolutely do not agree. Slab does a great job here and I have learned quite a bit of great information to help better myself in the crappie world. Thanks Slab and all who keep this site going!
havent been on in a while either. all sites seem to have taken a hit for one reason or another. still lots of info can be had here, just not lake names like stated by others. i dont tourney fish so, i tell all my "secret techniques". leadhead with a power grub jigged in wood. there thats all of them. :biggrin
i have seen social media do more damage, from postings, than any fishing site. its crazy how people suck off others anymore. got pictures of 2 separate occasions that a lake has been decimated. cant post them though, because of back grounds. one time there were 75 guys on a small lake 3 days after a post went up. the other time there were at least a hundred people crammed into a bay within days. that one lasted untill the fish were all caught up, and it ruined parking there too.(ice season). then there were still late comers trying the rest of the season. then the boats came out in spring. unbelievable. thats why you only see pics from my cleaning table, if at all, these days.
crappie tournament world use to be fun in Indiana a guy could learn a few things now its cut throat bad attitudes and 90% bs on how and what they used and not all tournament guys are bad people I have made a few good friends from tournaments I just learned there curtain people with big heads and egos that wont tell you a thing or even offer any advice
I don't think all tourney guys are bad, I've fished my share of them. But, when you add money into any equation, no matter what. Things change, which is understandable. But undoubtedly, I think that has changed this forum for our state. Anybody who's been here a while, can't disagree.
I'm here.....
Taking a break from +/or getting out of bass tourneys......mostly for the reasons mentioned above.
Gotta find fish for tourney day, don't give away info, committed to fish in the rain/wind....
Back to having fun and chasing crappie!
Haven't found many good fish most of the year, lots of shorts, few over 9".
Have posted some, not much good info to share ......
had a blast today didnt catch a lot but got out thanks to cevans and i meet 2 new guys
It was glad to meet you and cevans. Next time hope to be able to visit more. We caught 30 but only 10 keepers.
Our paths will cross again and BillBob and I enjoyed getting out as it was a perfect Fall Day that ended up 80 at the house by the time I got home. Here is link with a couple of pics of BillBob and write up of our morning of fishing. :cheers2
