Single poling
Me and the cousin had an exceptional day today single poling at a privet pit in Lakeland! 1/32 bubble gum was the ticket we caught fish from 18"-12' deep from daylight till 11 today, no telling how many we could have caught if the wind hadn't gotten up! Kept 23 specks all over 11" biggest was 13.5" and 15 rather larger bluegills what a fun morning on the water! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...968c723df7.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0ddf3ddab6.jpghttp://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e359a7547c.jpg

Advantage - "Private Strip - PIt"
Rest of us hack our way around lake to lake, checking this, that, whining, crying about where to go, what type
jig, color - tipped - untipped etc ......
Than there lucky ones who know someone who knows someone who knows how to get onto those seldom
fish pits in Polk County. Where fish are bigger than the live well, don't care what color jig, or depth - they are
just hungry -
Nice looking mess of fish Nick.

Dang! Somebody is grumpy today. Nice catch regardless Harold.
-
Sorry MIke, i didn't think i sounded Grumpy, just wish i knew someone that could put me on one of those pit lakes just
once to see what it was like to catch big spec's in Middle Florida without really trying.
To all those that i sounded bitter grumpy - i am sorry - it was in error - i was just wishful thinking..
Those are good looking fish that Nick caught.
-
Haha I new what ya ment Herold! Once you get on top of your health and can stand for an extended period let me know and will line up a trip!
-
My friend - that is one trip i will take you up on. "Take that one to the bank"
In minst of physical therapy and pain management people locating correct nerves to go in and deaden.
I will walk hopefully by the Classic.

That's a great mess of fish, and some better memories that came with it.
Harold. I have to tell of a place that helped me learn to crappie fish about 10 years back. It was known as the Candy Store. It was on one of the local lakes when I lived in TN. It was a shelf at a pumping station for a testing facility for rocket and jet engines. Markers said no boats but it wasn't strongly enforced until recent years. It had everything they wanted, depth, shade, bait and lots of different kinds of cover. I have gotten under that shelf that was about 35' x 20' and fished in all kinds of weather. Without exaggeration I have used no live bait, only plastics, and had 100 plus across the gunnels and been home just after noon. Now lots of days it was impossible to find a keeper in the bunch, other days there was keepers mixed in. Some days the big guns made a show and I really danced. The most important thing I got from it was to learn so many techniques. I learned about the lift bite, where the line falls to the water prematurely. Set the hook and fish on, time after time. Shooting, sidearm under tight quarters, skipping baits and so much more. As with all good things it had a finite life and is no longer as it was then. The state stocked white or yellow bass that the locals all called stripe and if it moved they hit it. The whole dynamic of the place changed and no one bothers with trying anymore that I know of. The confidence it built in me by practicing all the different nuances of this game we play was priceless, and I hope that everyone gets a chance to enjoy something like this. A golf course sometimes can be accessible from daybreak til the first mower shows up and the water traps are seldom fished and full of uneducated fish. A small spinnerbait and light line makes it a blast. I hope your day at the pits, when it comes, is clean off the charts. I've had a few banner days, and now it's your turn. Hope you get everything up to snuf to go and enjoy something like this.......Skeet.

Again Skeet, i believe you may have missed your calling when it comes to writing stories - your expressions, adjectives and color of the story really make
a person feel like i'm in other half of boat, digging in the bottom of tackle box looking for all importmant super color / flash or wobble
Thanks again Skeet.

I also hope you get to have a banner day catching. With that, after what you have been through, it would be a banner day just to be able to go.
