Need help HB unit
Made it out just for a hour or so trying to figure out my HB 598 si di I have lots to learn.anybody local willing to teach me .I'm willing to learn .I moved my transducer up about a inch or so because of the rooster tail that it was throwing and at full speed it was popping up from the resistance. I still having trouble with it spraying and it don't seem to be picking up correctly on the left side like it was .maybe motor interference ? This was worth the time out though!

Slabprowler I'm not very good at fish finders ether. If someone doesn't get you some answers. Repost this on the electrics page. I know someone will have the right advice on there but I bet you someone will help you here.

Ducer looks a bit low to me. Mine is in line with the bottom of the boat, and I have no issues. Tape a yard stick or something straight to the bottom of your boat, then let the ducer just touch it. That was method I used, saw it on youtube. Good luck!

Not sure what kind of boat you have? On my Triton, I mounted my transducer "fixed" to the boat. On my aluminum war eagle, I bought the pictured mount at Cabela's several years ago. It works great for a couple of reasons. First, I did not want to drill into my aluminum hull. Two, I fish this boat mostly in the creeks with many laydowns and structure. This mount allows me to adjust the depth for the environment. Not sure if this helps you? I do agree with above post that your transducer still looks a bit low.

Ok thanks fellows for the input. I have a 18' Xpress. I will raise it up some more Thanks

Spaceman, I like the mount I am going to look for one like that for my boat when I make it over to Cabelas. I have my Bird SI mounted on a piece of oak 1x2 that I have clamped with a C clamp to the transom.

Space man what is the name,of that mount my phone does not show pic and I am also wanting to put fish finder on my boat

If all else fails, you can call HB directly @ 1-800-633-1468

Slabby. Try this link: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Porta...ket/699847.uts It is the standard bracket. Looks like Cabela's has three models under the part number IK-010095. Good luck.

Thanks Space man that looks like it might work on my boat, which is a 15 foot alumacraft flat bottom.

Thanks for the replays I have it mounted as they had instructed with the line in center of the ducer even with the bottom of the boat . I think it maybe the way the bottom of my boat design is .it does need to go higher to keep it from spraying a rooster tail and popping up but I am getting an interference on the motor side already. I will take better pictures of the back of the boat and go from their. Thanks

Slabprowler, A couple of other ideas to consider. 1. On my glass boat, I tried a home-made temporary mount (similar to the cabelas mount on my aluminum boat) to move my transducer in several locations before deciding where I really wanted to permanently mount my transducer. I do not have a jack plate to give motor/hull separation so I was worried about the motor interfering. For a side imaging system, you will use it mostly at speeds less than 6mph. At this point you can trim your motor up a bit if you are worried about motor side clearance. 2. I found mounting my transducer between the chine(s) worked better 3. Sometimes your transducer will pop up when running WOT. It helps to periodically check. If I find mine has popped up, I just push it back into place.

Hey Spaceman, That mount is exactly what I need for rented Jon boats. I currently attach my transducer to the TM with a worm-clamp and would be fine if the TM (Endura Max) didn't give interference to the SI beams. When the motor is powered, I can't see anything in SI.
Question - and this will reveal my naivety - Is the transducer in your pic facing the right direction? I thought the "pointy end" should face e bow???
-
John D: Glad the mount may meet your needs. If your TM battery is easily accessible, you can also run a ground wire from the TM head to the negative terminal on the battery. This should help reduce the interference. The transducer on my war eagle and Triton is for an HB998...same model. I have a ram mount on each boat and hot swap the HB998 head between boats. It is a little larger and different than other HB transducers. It is facing in the correct direction. Thanks for asking.
