I also hope everybody in the affected areas are ready and stay safe.
Somebody is ready, no bread, no gas, no baked beans, no propane.
Expecting 100mph winds here ................
Got to take my Ham Radio antenna down in the morning ...........
Got the boat loaded and ready to go, waiting on someone to show up for fishing trip, lol (J/K)...
About 4 am the Daughter and Gdaughter left to return to Camp Lejeune (sp) in NC, cutting the visit short several days. Safety for them and lets face it, where better to be in a hurricane than on a Marine Base?. Never enough time for visits, period, but I'm glad I took yesterday to enjoy them being around. We're praying they make an uneventful trip back home and would appreciate your prayers for the same.
I'm also hoping and praying that all our members in the coastal areas are in shape and don't sustain too much damage. It's been 12 years since mother Nature dealt a blow like this to our areas, and I remember the aftermath of those well. Family first and the rest will be fine. Know that I'll have you all in mind as this comes and goes by......Skeet.
There seems to be way to many people ignoring the evacuation opportunity along the coast.... Before I retired my job required that I was either riding one out or sent into the area after it had passed... I've experienced every major storm over last fourty years....The damage caused by wind was bad enough but the collateral damage from flying debris was beyond belief.... Not to mention hazardous material left on the roadways, roofing nails, glass, metal etc. Also, flooding where you would least expect it. Help can't get to those that stay behind.... They're on their own for hours if not days! If you are able to leave please do so or if you know someone encourage them to leave.... Be safe everyone!
Well John ! ! ! !
Cool...............
KM4WZX here ........
Am running "Yaesu FTDX 1200" on longwire .......
Got 10 meter vert ground plane (the one I got to lower = gonna leave it, see what happens)
Also got old FT101E retired ...............
And got 2-meter handy talky. Ham club wanted me to man one of the emergency shelters but...... Ole lady
ain't gonna leave the house = hope we got a house left Sat morn ...........
May God's protective hedge be around all in the affected areas. I have never seen anything quite like the possibilities of a hurricane hitting a place and making a 360 degree turnaround to come back and potentially hit a place a second time. I certainly pray that such a one-two punch is not the case for Floridians or anyone else in Matthew's path of destruction.
John;
Here's picture of my rigs .......
Please show pic of your station ......
Yeah, couldn't stand it = got up there and took 10 meter vert down ......
Holy cow! Unreal series of events past week has me believing in fate. Mom lives on Merritt island right off the water / alone. Younger brother in law enforcement and swamped.I Was able to secure the house to our best ability / get up all the metal shutters, packed up mom and the pets and got out of Dodge. Most of the family now packed into my Clermont house. I fear her house is going to take it badly.
I picked a hell of a week to leave the restoration field ........... but now I can devote myself to her needs over the coming weeks.
The lord works in mysterious ways.
Be safe my friends.
I called several places yesterday morning and found a site on west coast. Went picked up mom and we packed and ran ahead of the traffic. Could not convince my kids to come but gave stepdaughter with grandson no choice. Waiting it out over here in camper and hoping for the best. But can replace items. Hope and pray everyone comes through safely. See yall on the flip side. Prayers for everyone.
My friends I pray for you all. Please be safe and take care of yourselves. God bless you all and please get back on here asap to let us know you are okay when it's over. Will continue holding you all in my thoughts. I know we are a long ways away, but if you need a place to come stay, we will welcome you. Stay C.c strong. Danny
Predicting 120mph gusts by day break here .......
Still rather calm here right now (7:47pm), saying SHTF around 3am ..........
Cool site = https://www.windytv.com/?28.531,-80.852,6
Good lookin rig Danny. I had a few friends that had those in the 80's. I was an outlaw running the freq's above what we were allowed and below what I was told were military. Had an absolute ball and made friends everywhere I spoke. I changed and times changed and I moved away from the tech that kept me running and gradually drifted away from it for several reasons. Miss it sometimes, met some exceptional people, and as you see, that part continues.
Yep Skeet, is a good hobby....
I got a CB in my truck for highway travel = don't hear many folks at all talking
anymore going down the road = died out for sure.
But hams are still alive and well....
When I got the FT101E it was rigged up to talk on freq's just above the CB freq's but couldn't
get my 10 meter freq's, popped in different crystal and got her back legal etc, etc........
When ya retire and find yourself bored to death, consider getting back into it.
We're monitoring the emergency shelters tonight (TARC = Titusville amateur radio club),
reporting to net control every couple hours as to head counts/conditions at each shelter.
So, gives one something significant to engage in once in awhile ......
Actually, I'm sitting here on my duff just listening because wife isn't into community service/ham
stuff .......
Here in Tutusville (10:15pm) all is still quite and relative calm.
Little bit of rain and light wind, I think we're lucking out and getting in between the rain bands.
I see New Smyrna and Daytona is getting quite a lot of blow and rain.
Oh, another thing, I got "Antenna" and getting all local TV stations perfectly. I see where they're
saying "Direct TV" and "Dish TV" folks are not getting good reception cause for the rain/clouds = LOL ! ! ! !
Still waiting for SHTF ..............................
12:00am..............
Getting pretty bad wind gusts now, very little rain .....
Scary standing in back yard seeing tree tops bending over double...
Had big oak tree limb (8") break off neighbor's tree and land on trellis.
Neighbor behind us has tree slapping h*ll out of my power line connections....
Still have power ....
And the bad stuff hasn't even started yet ........................
Be safe Danny...The worst is yet to come...Just looked at the hourly for you on the Weather Channel.

I talked with 65pontiac earlier and offered him a Retreat. He's gonna hang in there and ride it out but at least he is about 30-40 inland and TWC is calling for 12 hours of 70-80 mph winds Friday at his place. My cousin lives in Port St. Lucie and she left Tuesday and headed to Tallahassee. Nasty Nasty Nasty storm....And some computer models show it circling around and possibly giving yall a 2nd round.
Thinking about and saying a prayer for all my friends down that way!!!
Y'all are definately in for a terrible ride good luck stay safe

Prayin' everyone is doing well. Forcast for high winds here on Harris Chain has lessened, so I hope it's better for all others as well. Good luck everyone.
Still got power here in sorrento area.... Very windy.....sideways rain.... Having coffee..... Cooking bacon.... Life is good! Stay safe coastal friends.
Things are still in one piece at mi casa, here in Oviedo. Neighbors fared well, too. We still have power, for now. But Brevard Co. has 50% without power. As luck would have it, I took the boat to my dealer for the 20 hour service, south of Haines City. I was supposed to bring it back yesterday, but couldn't get there because of the evacuation traffic. So, it is out of the danger area.:highfive
Lord be with you all.
I pray everyone remains safe. My house in Winter Springs seems to be ok right now. Daughter & family have secured everything and hang in there. Hopefully it will continue to weaken a little. Stay safe everyone, Danny you are in the hazard zone for sure my friend, be safe I need to have a fishing parent this year.
I wish I had taken a picture of I-4 on my way in to Orlando this morning, 3 cars the whole way...

I am on the west coast but talked to Andy and Tim. Trees down no power but are ok. We are heading home tomorrow to see whats been done to home. All family accounted for and ok. Sure glad that besst stayed a touch offshore and never made the cat 4 & 5 thry were predicting. On a side note, if ever in a bind, Mangrove Snapper on ultralight and 1" tubes are a blast. Dont know if I will have power when home so who knows when I will be back on. Hope everyone is well when all said and done.
Rode it out , everything OK Lots of tree trash to pick up Hope everyone is OK RR
Made it home snd all is well.npower restored shortly after 5:30. Now praying for my 2 sisters and family in Carolinas.
My power and hence, internet came back just after 8 tonite. I'm thankful and blessed that so many called and texted to check on us through the past couple of days. We came through without any damage and just lack of power and the inconvenience that it brings. Neighbor 3 doors down is on a separate grid and is still without. Has a small generator running a fridge and some lights but too small for the water service. He had the wife, Gdaughter and I for dinner last night, dogs on the grill, that was a good change for all of us and the next door neighbor and their 3 children. Dad is National Guard and not home yet, serving in Jax area. This was a bad storm but not near as good as it could have been. It's been a reminder for me how much we depend on one another in rough times. Camping skills and just being there to talk to for some, and the offers from those with to those who had not cut way down on the stress for everyone. We officially dodged this bullet, and I've given thanks for that. Thanks for paying attention everyone, nice to know folks care.......Skeet.
Glad everyone seems to be safe. Now for the cleanup.
Have been praying for all of you and your families! Has anyone one heard from Danny, aka/phantom??
Marv
Hey Tim you must be on the same power grid as me ours came back on at 8pm too. Going to take a recon trip to the river next Saturday to see if any new trees got blown into the river from the storm. Hopefully the river won't stay high too long from the storm. High water = poor fishing for my area.
Anyone heard from phantom??
Well it was bad but could have been worse if that storm had came closer to land.........Glad toe every one is safe.
We left Vero Beach and went N W for 2 nights. Came back east across rt 60 and saw no damage at all till almost to rt 1.
We live between rt 1 and the river, and other than yard cleanup see little damage in this area. We didn't even lose power at our house.
If it isn't too hot I'm headin for Blue Cypress this week.
Jeff, Danny and Brian need to check in. Hoping all is well for them.
OK, heard from Ginny. RV and boat weathered the storm in Oak Hill ok. Ginny is here and hoping Terry will be along shortly. Any word yet on Danny or Brian? i dont have their number or would call and check on them.
