This won't effect you smart guys that make your own crappie jigs (see what I did there?), but, how this effects the rest of us remains to be seen.

Just a little while longer and my prediction will come to pass..there will only be 1 of everything...Allmart, The Drug Store, The Hardware Store etc. no more little guy...just BIG. Smiles, G <€€€><
It's got to end up that way you know ! So they can control what lil bit they don't control of already! :Rofl It makes me :puke
I dont know about yall, but i avoid bass pro like the plague. every so often there is something there i need i cannot find locally (charlotte)
I do all my boat part/outdoor shopping at academy. The same items for about 1/4 less. Bass pro price gouges only because they feel they can!

Dang! There goes the neighborhood! Why doesn't cabelas buy bass pro. That would be better
I prefer to buy online. I go to Bass Pro for availability, which is seldom. Our BP in Cary is very small. The Cabelas in Garner is a beautiful store with prices to match. I feel like I'm mall shopping, with a premium price based on the "atmosphere" instead of product quality. Internet shopping is supreme, in my opinion.
All that said, I hate to see these stores combine. More different is better.
I tormented Cabelas so much over my boat they just threw in the towel
You do not need either of them. I have everything you need to catch crappie at half of what they sell it for.

Well, there ya go. Better service, too. The big boxes just serve me to give me a place to walk around and look. There once was a time when these mega sports stores - L.L.Bean, BPS, Cabelas - were focussed on hunting and fishing supplies. Then, they started carrying pink camo pajamas for women (hopefully, just women) and flannel shirts made in Pakistan and everything went south after that. I have to look at them and say, "I just don't know who you are anymore!".
Ordered a bunch of jigs from Monk last year. Plan to do so again this year. I would much rather support the small guy for many reasons. Monk, just don't let them try to buy you out next. Unless it's a couple of billion and then we couldn't blame you.
I get all of my stuff from Monk

FWIW, I buy almost all of my tackle from BP and C. Both are twenty minutes away, and I have cards that earn discount points at both.
The bass pro rewrds points and the bass pro credit card is a joke. I recently cut up my BP visa because the points were not accounting for squat since the change aprox 8yrs ago.
I ended up getting an academy credit card and the $25 rewrd bucks keep rolling in monthly.
