I'll be camping in Brown County this weekend and will have a few hours to fish Saturday afternoon. I've never fished the area other than Monroe, what are some other lakes/streams/creeks down there I can hit up? Would also like to rent a canoe to fish from if possible, but will bank fish if I have too. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks
Spring Mill State Park is sort of in the area, depends on how far you want to drive

Yeah thats a little too long, and a little out of the way. I've been researching Yellowwood Lake. Sounds like it use to hold a lot of bluegills but has died off since the dredging. Hopefully it has made a comeback because I would love to catch some fat gills. Also is there a bait shop near in Nashville? The only one I know in the area is the fishin shedd
Yea, I have not been there since it was dredged and restocked. It was a very clear lake. I think they also did some work on the damn. If I think of something else I will post. I run around the Columbus, Taylorsville, Edinburgh, and Nineveh areas. Not sure about bait shops. I will put some feelers out on that for you and post if I hear anything.

I fished the one lake in the state park last year about this time from the bank (the lake with a dam). I caught a handful of small gills. I didn't spend much time fishing though. We will be camping there in two weeks, so i'm curious what you find out for area lakes. I was planning on bringing my kayak to do a little fishing, but was hoping for something a little more promising then what the state park had to offer.
look at google earth for roads going to the big lake. i know there were a couple we used to fish. if you find one with large creek inlet, by a dead end, it was always good for us. sorry but i cant remember road names for ya. a canoe would be your best bet, but we did ok from shore too.
If you want to get off of the beaten path there are some Monroe feeder creeks south of BC Park. Jump off of 135 at Story on Elkinsville Rd. Lots of those creeks are very good fishing. Been years since I have been there. Most of that is in the Hoosier National Forest.
Well the fish at Yellowwood lake live to see another day. Fished it for about 3 hours Saturday, only caught 4 bluegills, none which were big enough to keep. Tried throwing red worms and bee moths at them, nothing really seemed to work. Beautiful lake though.
