OK Folks, I'm not sure if we can set up an actual poll or not here, so I'll just ask the question:

Under most conditions, which plastic jig dressing is most productive for you overall?

1) Curly Tails

2) Straight Tails

3) Tubes

4) Paddle Tails

5) Creature baits

I think this covers the gamut of styles available to us all. Wondering what your "go-to" is?

As far a I'm concerned, day in and day out, the straight tailed plastic (i.e.: Bobby Garland's Baby Shads) consistently produces for me, over the other styles available. This could be interesting! :)

Straight tails : Panfish Assassins, Slabanator Shad, Slab Commander Small Fry, Bobby G Baby Shad, & Mr Crappie Shadpole. (over the last decade or so)

Prior to that, for several decades, it would have been "tubes".

Straight tails hands down.

Hand tied stuff has spoiled me. However, on minner days, I bite off a piece of soft plastics (whatever in reach) the size of a crappie nibble and stick it on the hook to keep minner on, especially when KY double rigging or casting out. This technique has been around a long time, but so have I. It works and don't melt in the mouths (or water).

Since becoming a C.Com member, I have adapted/adjusted to being not dedicated to anything tackle.

I like straight tails for lakes and ponds, curly tails for current.

I will also second the feathers. Next to the straight tails it's probably my second favorite.

Have yet to catch anything on straight tail , a few on curly tail , most on Gulp Minnows witch might be ranked as a straight tail?

Seems I change my mind every stinking year, thus causing me to get bigger and more storage boxes.

I would say umbrella tubes, then Mr Crappie joker and slabalicious. Those have become my go to baits over the past few years.

Thats a tough question. But if pressed to only have 1 style from now on it would have to be a tube. But limit the size and way its rigged and we gonna fight. But please dont take my curl tails, creatures, and paddle tails and stingers.

I'm also a mixed opinion. Casting to cover or structure, or a given location that is showing fish, I'll take a straight tail. BGBS and Assassins(Stingers) during different conditions. Trolling I prefer something with motion, such as a curly or paddle, that also creates vibration. If trolling with a spinner blade(Roadrunner or Beetle Spin) the motion tails are an option, not a necessity. Casting with a Beetle spin I prefer a curly to help it stay shallower at a slower speed. Slow usually produces more for me.

I have had such great success with all of them I couldn't pick a favorite. I carry em all and use them all.

Tubes (Pink and White or Lime Chartreuse and Black), Straight Tails (Monkey Milk) and then handcrafted marabou jigs. No matter what there is usually a crappie nibble on it. I will cast double jig rigs with differing lures until there is a pattern of what the fish want then I switch the other rod to what the weather and fish dictate for that day.

BGBS works best for me .

Maddex Custom Jigs has a minnow that's been great for me, almost three inches and can make any color you want, I also like to use them on a 1/4 leadhead in cold water.

Straight tail followed by paddle tail.
