It's excellent.
My favorite time of year to fish.
Was in your boat about 4 years back lol. Hunting season started and fishing stopped....until someone took me for a fall river trip...SON!!! Never looked back and hunting has suffered due to it. They put the feed bag on and run with the bait fish up into the rivers. Try it and you'll be hooked.
plus little to no other boat traffic during the winter.
Fall can be even better than the spring.
Where do you find them in Fall? Shallow or deep. Or near spawning areas. Thanks
wilbur Oct and early Nov head back up your major feeder creaks into the lake. Bait fish will run far back in them, was in shallow water next to any stickup you can see. BG monkey milk did real good for me up there on a lite wire 1/16 head. Needed the lite wire hook for the snags.
You our will see them staging up at the mouth in deeper water on your SI before this but Oct and Nov while they have the feed bag on is a great time to be on the water.
Good of luck and hope it helps
The place I fish is a strip pit not sure it has a feeder creek but I will check Thanks Guys.
Dang! Yea that is a little different lol. Sure others here has that type fishing that could help ya out, not fished any pits before.
The great thing about early fall is there are not as many people on the water, there are not as many drastic fronts. And the fish will get turned on and bite all day long. And every fish is on the feed.... It's still fishing of course...I mean there can be good and bad days. But wow...a day on the water with a light jacket on,thermos of coffee, fish whamming it all day long, fall colors on the trees...I mean I live for those days. Later when it gets a little colder and leaves are gone...fish settle in on structure and and are easy to pinpoint.
Oh how I long for Fall!!!
Keep hunting, leaves more fish for us!
My favorite time or year to catch bluegills and crappies. The bite can be fast and furious, and they can be just as predictable as in the Spring. But, they can be a challenge as well, depending on the crazy weather that can happen in the Fall.
Here's a bit of the Autumn action that happens in our area.

I too am a fall fan, I hate the summer the heat keeps me off the water until dark. My birthday is September 23 the first day of fall most years so God gives me exactly what I want every year for my birthday. Last two years I have done very well in the fall in the upper part of the lake where the current starts. I fish deeper bluff walls and whack'em. Last year this time of year I caught 30 crappie under one overhanging limbs about 10' down over 20' of water.
I would expect a pit to be way different but fish will probably be shallow to mid depth and should bite better than the summer months. That's just a guess though. I know own in the ponds I fish they bite better when the water temp cools down some.
