this is a fact ....we have lakes in these parts where you can find them as shallow as 3 to 4 foot of water in the dead of summer .....good info.

Been catching them in the atchafalaya basin/ spillway about 4' down in 8-10' DIRECTLY under hyacinth mats. You ever make your way down here?
Great tips indeed. We get ours fishing open basins in 18' - 23' of water. The fish are usually close to the bottom or suspended underneath bait cruising a bit shallower. We drift for them mainly, as it has become extremely productive for us. In a stiff breeze, it appears that our jigs are almost water skiing at times, we're moving so fast! But the crappie love it. :)
