Thanks CP! The unit was given to me so; I want to utilize the GPS feature with all the maps. Hmm LGC4000
4000will work. You will need the nmea2000 starter kit also (if not supplied with 4000). I used 4000 with my LCX27. Does the job.
This will also work.

you would need a nmea2000 starter kit for this too.
Too late it's gone...just sold yesterday; I am going to star watching the classifieds
.
Point-1 installed and working............thanks for the info!
Would that be part of the setup for heading sensor? I will get back to the menu tomorrow, popup storm forced me inside.
The magnetic sensor will not work with the lcx, nor will the 5 hz refresh rate.
shucks, thought it was 10hz with present position and direction of travel on the compass rose page.
The unit is only 1 hz refresh.
point 1 works fine with the LCX. GPS function as well as the heading sensor. You will know when the heading sensor is working, the little black boat triangle in the center of the screen will become elongated and turn red, kind of a neat feature.
I use a Point 1(actually the Simrad gs25, which is the same as the Point 1) with an LCX 27, works great. Standard NMEA 2000 setup.
My LCX never worked with point 1 heading sensor. Lawrence told me it wasn't intended. Go figure. Plugged in HDS and it fired right up. HDS2 has refresh position of 5 hz and hds3 has 10 hz and lcx 1 hz.

lcx screenshot of my boat on the trailer showing the red pointer. Works with the lms series also.
Just be sure to load the latest software for the units...

I gave my LCX27 away. Got a touch HDS. Works great.
27 was/is a good unit. It is heavy for its size though. Had trouble with front ram mounting cause boat cast deck was flimsy. I'm too old to tighten things teet tite. I don't have near the patience I once had either.
Light weight was what I liked about 997 HB (and the connector arrangement). HDS ain't too bad, but the connectors suck. DonG sent me a connector tool which helps.
I just speak from a user point of view. If I am wrong, I am wrong.
I believe I had problems with waypoints. I believe it (lcx) would only share current waypoints or ones marked while connected to the newtork(s). I believe I had number overuns too.. Can't remember. I also don't believe you can share nothing but waypoints. Can't remember.
Well had a chance to get on the water at Cumberland City this evening; everything is working great! Thank you guy's for your help and suggestions.
Great.
This kinda points to the complaints many have made about customer service. They(customer service reps) seem more willing to sell an upgrade than help with legacy products.
