I hooked one on KY Lake last summer that was at least 5 feet long and as big around as my thigh. It jumped several times like a tarpon. We got it to the boat but couldn't get it in the net(luckily). It was never hooked, the line was wrapped up in its teeth. I did get my crank back and would give a $100 bill if I had that whole episode on tape. That was a ball on a 16 foot rod.
Gar bout 3 foot long, dang things were schooling and a managed to hang one.

I used the net handle on his head, made removal pretty easy

Had a friend hook one thursday on a cb. He was trying to remove the bait and it flopped. Put the bait in the top of his wrist. Then it flopped again and pulled the bait out with a 2 inch tear. And broke the line and got the cb. Ran into him at the landing. He said it even spurted until he iced it. Man it was a bloody mess in his boat. He fished for 2 hours after this. He tried texting my SIL since he knew we were close, but it would not go. At the landing they both admitted not having any first aid stuff in either boat. Keep some first aid in the boat guys. He was lucky. We suggested he go to the emergency room , but he didn't.
My dad used to do that also. He even had the scar on his hand/arm to prove it. LolQuote:
