What is your set up..How do YOU do it?
Same as regular trolling but with heavier weights and more speed
what sat said plus 3/16 and 1/4 oz. jigs are good for this
Rig set up?
I do mine just like spider rigging....just heavier weight and heavier jigs....then run at a greater speed
This thread has some good info from BRM and others on this subject. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/off-t...ower-trolling/
Here is another very good read on Power Trolling http://www.magnoliacrappieclub.com/a...erTrolling.pdf
Do you usually tip with minnows or not? Does the increased speed kill minnows quickly?
Dont think it matters. Going that fast....I believe there is enough minnow movement dead or alive. I never could tell any difference.

I was wondering what benefits there is with power trolling over long lining.
That's kind what I was thinking. But wasn't sure if I was missing something.
Thanks for the reply
You haven't run over the fish.
I use Minnows a lot. I don't always power troll a road runner and a tube. Sometimes I power troll Meatgetter Minner Critters and a minnow like we did at Grenada to finish well in the MCC championship. I also use Minnows on a jig and tube for power trolling.
I prefer my bait alive!!!! I can slow it down and/or change speeds and direction and still get movement from the bait. In my experience, live bait is a must. Dead bait just won't catch near as many unless it's one of those days when the fish will hit a rock or anything you put in front of them.
The speed has no effect on the Minnows. They swim faster than 1mph on their own. [emoji4]
