Our 11 year old son accidentally hung himself with a rope around his chest swinging in a tree. I found him unresponsive not breathing and started CPR. He is in ICU now. He did have a faint heart beat prior to transport and is now having assisted breathing and they have sedated him. We do not know about brain activity.
Please pray!
Done. That is one of the saddest things I've ever heard.

Thank all of you for you thoughts and prayers. Buddy was suppose to leave for camp next Sunday morning and then his parents Charles and Tami were heading to Louisiana to visit with us and other friends for the week. This is so sad not only for them but to all of us. Here is the latest from Charles.

This is completely in God's hands. His will be done. There are thousands of prayers asking for his mercy and compassion to heal Buddy. We are thankful for them all.
They are currently doing the EEG however due to his deeply sedated state it will not be an indicator for activity. It will tell us if he is having any seizures so they can medicate for them if needed. Also they will not start taking him off the sedation and ventilator till late Tuesday or Wednesday. They will continue to monitor him for signs of brain swelling till then. The danger period for that is 12 -72 hours. We certainly feel helpless till then. We are here with him 24/7 and continually talk to him and urge him to fight.
The doctor told us a few minutes ago that his recovery prospects are poor. We must continue to pray that God's will be done and that he gives us the grace to bear this.
Please continue to pray and pass this message on.

Gene, I can't even imagine what they are going through, and this leaves my heart heavy for them. Praying for a full recovery for Buddy, and strength and understanding for his parents. Thanks for the update.

''G'' the only thing new is that nothing has changed since the last update. Tonight or early tomorrow they will start to bring him off of the sedation and see what happens. If that goes well they will then try to wean him off of life support. So tonight, tomorrow, and the next day will be very critical for him. Let pray that there is no damage to his brain and that his body functions began to work on there own. My friend Charles is so thankful for all of us joining in with hundreds of others in praying for Buddy. I also want to thank y'all for stepping up for him.

Here is the latest on Buddy
Today has been rough. They took him off the paralytic and there was not any muscle twitching or jerking. They also took him off his sedatives. He has not shown any sign off waking up. A EEG they ran today shows there is brain damage of an unknown amount. This is devastating to me but I still maintain hope and continue to pray. God's will will be done.

I can't thank y'all enough for joining in on the prayers and supporting Charles, Tami and Buddy. As we know it's not what we want but rather "thy will be done", and it was God's will to bring Buddy home to him.We cannot argue with that. Because we have Faith in our Father we know all is well.

So, so sorry....Praying for comfort and peace for the family & friends....
Sorry to hear that pawpaw but I hope to have the same mind set as they have if I was to ever lose one of my children. It is one thing to say it but to actually have it when that time comes is another thing. I wouldn't wish the pain of losing a son or daughter on anyone. May God continue to watch over Charles, Tami and Buddy.
I am so sad for the family. Prayers for comfort sent. I have 2 of my grandson's coming over for the weekend. I will read them this thread to hope they learn from it. God bless.

Yes "D" it's a teaching moment for sure. I have a nine year old grandson who thinks he's a ninja warrior and I don't know how he hasn't been hurt yet. As soon as he get back from a cruse with the family he will be read the story of how it happened to educate him as to what can happen when you're just playing. How many times I played with ropes and a tree as a kid, only heaven knows and I never had that though cross my mind. I'll make sure it crosses his.
