Any reports from Grand Lake or the Old River Bed at Eudora?
Hello, Ronnie T. I too am interested in fishing Grand Lake at Eudora. I have never fished it before, but I took a look at it about a weeke ago. I sure hope someone with recent experience there posts in response to your question.
Have you fished Grand Lake before? What was it like, if you mind my asking? Thanks. bryophyte
Hey RonnieT, welcome to the site, I'm in Monticello. I haven't fished Grand before, but would really like to this year. It was really low last year but should be back up with all the rainfall. Do you ever fish Felsenthal, that really looks like it would be some good crappie fishing.
Welcome to the forum, Ronnie. Lots of good information and reports can be found here. If there's any information about crappie that you would like to know, just click on the search bar at the top. I'm pretty sure that you'll find it. There's also lots of good information that can be found here... http://www.crappie.com/tips.html
I'm not too familiar with the southern lakes. With the spawn getting closer, those southern AR lakes will warm up quicker than ours up here. So be sure to give us a good report if you decide to hit Grand or Old River Bed. With our central AR reports, we will all be able to follow the spawn from north to south. CEB -
It's been a few yrs since I fished Grand . Late Feb & March is usually the best. It has some slabs. The wind gets nasty on this lake so use caution.
Ronnie T. By saturday grand lake could be hot. The lake warms quickly and ususally after a few warm days (like this week) males will begin to move up. There are a couple of coves that crappie begin to move into during Feb. every year. Also, there is a dock on the lake that is a sink for crappie. Just follow the boats there about two hour before dark. Some days you catch none there, then the next you may catch 50.
anyone been to chicot or grand lately? i heard they were catching some small ones in connerly bayou recently. hopefully i will be headed down there before long.
I will be going this weekend and will let yall know about grand, if the wind isnt too bad. if it is I will be on that dock JF is talking about.
Hey, THANKS, brgolden. We sure look forward to hearing from you about Grand Lake. I do hope the wind will give you a break; it has been just terrible down here of late. Tomorrow looks pretty tough as well, but maybe the weekend will be nice to you. Have some fun! :)
thanks bryo, just found this board, and it looks to be a good one. I will let yall know soon as possible.
You are right, brgolden, this is a good board. You'll be hard pressed to find a better bunch of fishermen. Most are just happy to share experiences with fellow crappie chasers. Thanks a bunch for joining in. I hope you have a ball here, as well as on the lake. :)
Welcome to the board brgolden, from lower Arkansas.
lived in hamburg all my life ,family is orginally from wilmot. right now however I am in fayetteville working on my Phd. Its a different kinda fishing up here in this clear water.
I grew up fishing grand, paradise, enterprise, wilson, and chicot. with about 90 % of my time fishing Grand and enterprise. when the bite turns on it can be magical. I can remeber in the mid 90's when we would have to stop fishing because we were tired. Many fish have been caught in grand that would stick out of a 5 gallon bucket by a couple of inches.
My father in law also has a real nice camp on grand. the one with the magical dock alluded to by a previous poster
....and good luck on your doctoral program. I know what that is about! Kindly forgive me, but I earned mine at (ahem!!) LS&U!
I look forward to fishing your Grand Lake. I have fished Wilson a few times in Oct. and Nov. I did not do well; still need to practice, I reckon. I don't know where Paradise is. If/when you are home for a break from the academic world, good luck fishing SE AR!
bryo I was going to go to LSU for my PHD, but the prof I was going to work for retired, and since my field is rice fertility, LSU and Arkansas are the only two places I would think about going, so I stayed here for the doctorate.
Growing up were I did 5 miles from louisiana, I have just as much allegiance to LSU as I do arkansas. We had to go to Monroe for anything we needed that we couldn't get at wal mart.
Paradise is a place in the old river around lake village
i usually fish chicot but i also fish paradise and lake lee when the river gets right. i think we are taking the camper down this weekend and i am ready to go.
Go gettum! If you would, please post us any report that you have of the Chicot-Grand Lake area. Much appreciated. Glad to see the crappie fishing interest in the SE part of AR. Looking forward to joining you folks up there real soon.
the fish are biting if you can stand the wind and have a huge bilge. my wifes cousin got a limit at chicot, but sunk his boat. grand was ok but it was dock fishing, to windy to put the boat in the water
i have not gotten to go yet but i have relatives down there fishing this week. i heard a good report out of lake washington over in mississippi.
HawgPharm, I hope your relatives do well and have a ball. We'll be waiting to hear how they do. Hope the wind gives them a break.
