Long Lining using 10lb hi viz mono?
I want to use my 8 pulling crank bait rods for long lining jigs. Problem is that the crank bait rods have 10lb high viz mono on them? I have always used lighter 6lb hi viz mono for longlining. Problem is that I have limited space in my boat and want to have the option to either pull crankbaits or long line jigs but don't want to carry 16 long rods. Any one here use 10lb line for longlining jigs? Does 10lb mono work longlining jigs?

Long lining is also called pulling or long line trolling. Depends on who you ask. Spider rigging is also described as trolling, pushing, tight lining, or power trolling when done at faster speeds. It all gets confused because there are so many names for each technique. When I pull baits behind the boat, wether it be jigs or crankbaits, I call it long lining or pulling. When fishing off the front of the boat, I call it pushing or spider rigging. To answer your question, I think when most people refer to "trolling", they're talking about spider rigging.
