I can't seem to find these anywhere. I use to get mine at gables sporting goods in Newnan but they've long closed.

Mr Bill sold the company and only make for Chuck's bait and tackle on Watson Blvd Warner Robins G.A. phone (478) 922-9851
Thanks hobo! I didn't know that.
I cut my teeth trolling Hal Flys in the 70s. My fishing buddy's Secretary was Hal Barber's daughter in law, so he got all kinds of inside scoop on fishing methods. Our go to jig then was the 1/32 red, silver, white. This was a Malibu tail and it killed the crappie. Stumphunter jigs, tied by Ronnie on the SC website, has a dead ringer for the old Hal Fly that we used. I just got a dozen from him. Just search for Stumphunter jigs.
Note that the old ones like we used had a silver thread body, not the jell type that came later.
Google Hal fly you can find em! Amazon has em
Look up show down tackle by far the best rubber body hair jigs on today's mkt . Earl Elkins
I have a bunch of vintage Hal-Fly lures. In fact, Harold Barber, the owner/maker of Hal-Fly Jigs was practically family to me, and I learned how to make his product. Check out my Fish Slayer Jig Facebook page, or my website Home Harold Barber (Uncle Hal as we called him) passed away last year at 93. Let me know if I can help you out!

Harold Barber (Uncle Hal) was practically family to ours. I learned his method, and even use some of his old equipment today to make those jigs.
You know, they aren’t hard to make. Just get some of the plastics from some the guys on here and feed the feather w oversized needle.
Do you make any with light wire hooks?
Some guys on here make the plastic and feather but not me
These are good folks and make a good product. Check them out with link below.

Ahh the Hal fly. I remember the originals
well. Yellow and white caught a ton of crappie.

I learned from Harold Barber, and continue to make his lures using his method. I'd be happy to put together an order for you. You can see my product on Home and my Facebook page (Fish Slayer Jigs).
The method you describe is not the way Hal-Fly's are made at all. How would you keep everything from slipping off the hook or back through the plastic?
I believe the Wilson brothers bought the rights to Hal-Flys many years ago and have been making them ever since. I believe that Mr. Wilson sold the rights to Big Bite Baits a few years ago but Mr. Wilson was allowed to keep making them and distributing them to a small number of clients which Chucks is one. Mr. Wilson (the last brother alive) passed away so I don't believe they are making them in Warner Robins anymore. I used to go to Mr. Wilson's shop and buy directly from him at a killer price. He was a good man and loved to fish. I don't know what it is about Hal-Flys but I always catch crappie on them. They have always out fished Jiffy Jigs for me but saying that I have about million Jiffy Jigs. I just like to buy Crappie Jigs, it is a hobby. LOL. So check into Big Bite Baits and see if they are still making them. Mr. Wilson flew down to their plant and trained them how to make them correctly. If Big Bite Baits is still making them you will be buying the real Hal-Flys and not copies or knock offs. Good luck with your fishing.
Looks like big bite baits is running a clearance on hal-fly jigs
