I understand for sure about that bad luck type thing. Seems it has eyes to know when you don't want that kind of luck to happen. Now save that small blade one for when they get shallow again, maybe next spring of if you find them shallow in the fall. You can do what I do which is long line troll with it. Going like .4 to .8 MPH.
That Chart and Blue 1/16 oz one when ever you want a 1/16 in stained water. If water is really stained I love one with a Hot Orange tail.
Kind of doubt I ever have any more Gold Plated Roadrunner heads, LOL!

Impressive! What is on the body?
hey there mister skipper ......
got brave , tied on that glitter bud on my braid rod ....thats right i finally i tested one yesterday .....
and i can say this with a very definite sureness ....
they smack that golden child so HARD i was saying that....
.... that aint a crappie ! KABOOM :highfive
Thank you man! Well I sure am glad it worked for you. The guy I tied the ones you firs saw was cashing bass with these. I always thought the Gold would work well especially after a few years ago when I was actually was testing out a new kip tail jig I was starting to tie for some Louisiana guys. I took one down to my bank that March and really didn't expect much, but put it down just a few feet from me under a cork, but soon I spotted what I thought looked better so I lifted it out. Well when I did that I saw a Gold looking flash under the water so I plopped it right back in. To not drag this out and knowing I had not believe in kip tail jigs to start with before this, but 15 minutes later I had pulled 3 out of that spot and the smallest was 14". It took me that long because I had to find a way to keep them and now kill them incase I didn't get any more after the first one. So I ran around looking for this net thing I have that has a float ring and used that. I had so little belief that was going to happen that I was using the wimpiest rod that I have so I had to drag them in over wood in the water and all kinds of stuff, LOL! It was a real kick, but also it sure made me believe in kip tail jigs too, LOL! Anyway this long story to say that flash under that line I pulled out was what made me believe in Gold chenille!

well the lake i tested it on aint full of real large crappie ,but for sure it is flat full of crappie
and i really did notice how much harder they hit that big ole golden child ....
drug along kinda slow they would stop it with a bone jarring strike everytime they hit it .....
gots to love a bite like that from a summer time crappie for sure :highfive
thanks again my friend and stay tuned .....am out to pitch it again soon
Just don't cry when you lose it!!!:Rofl especially as those plated heads are hard to come by!!!
Those sure are Purdy! Skip knows how to tie what works!
It's too bad the people at Road Runner don't take notice
and start to make some of these available, or at least a
different setup than what they are offering. I'm going to
look around here for someone who can gold plate jigheads.
Keep up the good work Skip and Ketchn, you keep ketchin'
Dave
Thanks Ketchn for giving in and trying one out! Maybe I will have to sneak you some of a different size and more for fall or spring.
I have worked with Blakemore for a long time now and even tried to get them to do my Glow jigs, but they didn't see a good way to merchandise them on a shelf. I am tying a few samples of the ones I tie and like so much to see if they may want a line of Roadrunners like I tie, but someone else doing the tying, lol!
Thankfully I have a good many more Gold plated heads in the 1/32 and 1/16 and also a lot of Nickel plated heads which are superior to Chrome or Silver paint and it doesn't chip off.

i am sad to report the willow blade one bit the dust ....broke the willow blade off it on the deck of the boat Sunday ) =
but let me tell yawl i dropped it anyway and the still WHACKED the fire out of it .....
if you break one off at the swivel is there anyway to fix it is my question ? the rest of the jig still looks great after a dozen fish
it broke off right at the barrel ...I think my other rod hit it when it was on the deck .....) =
Dang that is too bad, but I have always thought there is no reason the jig shoul still work. I have had my share of the swivels breaking especially on some plated heads after their treatment being plated. Also have some I painted and broke the swivel any number of ways and I look at them and think I should try one!
Bet the one you have will work.
