anyone heard if them cats are on the rock walls yet?
Friends went saturday below the dam. Spend an hour filling a bucket with skips. Then 3 hours filling a cooler with cats. Were anchored about 75 ft from north rock wall, half way between the dam and ramp.
So how do you catch skip and were ? Would love to go and catch a bunch for bait . Thanks
We used to cast 2-3 jigs into the boil and reel in slow.

Thanks for the info guys.
Anybody do any fishing for sauger at pickwick? My step father was talking about them the other day, he used to fish below the dam with his dad up there years ago. Said that's the only freshwater fish he preferred over crappie. He ain't a big fishing guy, but loves to hunt. Anyways, I figured it may be nice one day for me to go try to catch him a few, he does like to eat every now and again.. lol. Thanks..
10-4 eagle, thanks for the info.. I always take him and my moma a bag or two of crappie fillets when I go visit. He mentioned the saugers being the only thing better in his opinion, I might get a guide to find a few when the temp gets right again. And will look into these red ears...

I've been on the road since march 21 and finally got some time to fish yesterday. We went looking for the cats on the rock walls on the lake side and just didnt really get into them. The bream seemed to be more cooperative and the girl liked the quick action. There a couple of cats in the mix but mostly bream. We quit keeping em at 60...thats all I wanted to fillet :)
Nice haul!
Great job! Nice picture
Thanks, we had a good time.
Good job! I've always loved Pickwick, ever since my first time there years ago.

Well you run across one, I do know that nobody targets them...if there is one caught it's very very rare, there are sauger there I catch them pulling cranks and ppl fish for them up at the dam in the cold
Cold part of winter
Those are some nice Bream!
Thanks....I went back saturday morning and fished until the crowd ran me off the lake. The catfish finally decided to cooperate. Caught a good mess of catfish off the walls saturday morning. One downer is that I think I let my boa set long enough this year until the gas set up in it. In 17 years I never let it set long enough for the gas to go bad, but I'm pretty sure my carbs are all gummed up. It's choked around on me the last couple of trips enough that I think Im gonna take it to Southern Marine and let him rebuild the carbs. I just hope Mike isnt backed up terribly bad....
When ya'll talk about the rock walls at Pickwick are you talking about below the dam or those rock faces on the main lake, such as right below Indian Creek. Also where do you find bream on Pickwick?
What Cray said
We are talking about the flat walls along the lake....natural walls they are starter up and down with cracks in them along the banks
Mike Tabors got it now....it got to the point it wouldnt even run. Pretty sure he'll fix me up :)
Crickets....we had a good time.
