We wore out some big catfish in this spot. I wish I would've took a pic in structure scan also. I will say that it looked like rock on structure scan but I confirmed that wasn't the case with my 8 oz sinker. What do y'all think?
I see scattered fish ... Where's the item you are referring to ... ??

I'm referring to the dense bright red, green, and yellow returns that come up to the 25-30 ft mark in the 44 ft of water. I've returned to the same spot several times and it looks the same each time. As I move away from the drop, the dense returns taper off as you can see in one of the pics.Quote:

Tennessee River/ Guntersville. I confirmed it was a drop by counting down my 8 oz sinker in both depths. Also every time I moved into the ledge, I'd get hung up. It All felt like solid rock to me.Quote:

Wow! Nice big cats for sure. Thanks for the fishing sonar "what am I seeing" information and sonar pictures. Looking forward to seeing some more "what am I seeing" sonar pictures.
Nice cats for sure. Could it be Thermocline ? Sometimes with high setting a Thermocline with show on sonar.
Does the map show a submerged bridge ... ??

What I see often locally, and have seen it this past week, is that late in the evening, the plankton starts rising off the bottom. It will give the appearance of a thermocline and the return is exactly like your reds, yellows, and greens rising off the bottom. I have seen it rise almost to the surface in 30 ft water.
The hard drop off is strange. If you counted it down with a sinker, and there was a difference, clearly there was a hole on the bottom. I've always thought the red returns were the harder returns.
In final explanation of my comments above, I don't have the slightest clue what it is, but it sure produced some nice fish.
Well, I returned to that spot in the morning also for a couple days and the return was the same. It was only in that 50-75 ft spot too. I did count it down with a sinker to confirm the drop. It showed up on downscan too but I didn't take a pic. Wish I woulda.Quote:

We actually talked about that, but I don't have a camera. The water was very clear. You could see your bait nearly 10 ft down. That spot is 5 hrs from my house so it's not feasible to go back now. Maybe next yr.Quote:

I happened to be fishing the day that Navionics mapped this lake. They had 6 boats going that day I think they said. I was watching a Youtube video of a guy making his own map with his Lowrance HDS 12 Gen 3. He had the map card map pulled up but as he made very tight turns back and forth over the original map features his unit was producing a much more detailed map. Like Cane Pole said the Navionics maps are very good but they just don't make as numerous of passes to catch all the tiny details.
