Feb 17th Nightstalk

Ok folks looks like we are on for the 17th and I want to address a few things to make sure I have my ducks in a row.

First - Who is comming for sure? I know some if not most of you will not know untill closer to the time. I would just like to know who is deffinately in, to help me in determining how many burgers to bring.

Second - Start time for the stalk will be 4:30. Sunset is at 5:54 that day so if we all get there by 4:30 it will give us some time to eat some burgers and meet one another. That should also give all of us time to get out anchored and rigged up before dark.

Third - Of those that are comming let me know if you are going to be a boater or non boater. Please, please, please come even if you dont have a boat. CEB, Slipcork and myself will all for sure have our boats, and we could take as many as 10 to 12 non boaters among us alone.

Fourth - I am going to bring a charcoal grill and cook some burgers. I will also bring the buns, cheese, and condiments. If anyone else wants to bring something like chips, beans, whatever to go with please feel free to do so. Again I am just cooking some burgers so we will all have a chance to meet one another and not be rushed to get out there on this first of what I hope are many nightstalks.

I am going out to the river this weekend with Slipcork to sink more condos. I have 10 ready to roll and will probably have more by the time we fish so everyone should have a nice setup. CEB, Slipcork and myself are going to get there early on the 17th and will have the spots marked with cheap throw away bouy markers so finding a spot will be easy, even if this is your first trip to the Little Maumelle. I just hope the weather is cooperating as the only things I can think of that would make us cancel are excessive winds or MUDDY water. Either of those conditions will cause us to have to rescedule.

For now I am in, & I will be bringing my boat, so if anyone wants to go with me, they are more than welcome. I'm gonna call you tonite / tomorrow to come by & get some boo, hopefully on saturday or sunday.

Let me know when you want to come do the boo. This weekend I am going to try and juggle condo sinking, Bob Segar, and a squirrel hunt in with some Valentines crap but the boo is so close to my house I wont get in trouble helping you out.

Do note that you dont need to bring a condo to the nightstalk unless you just want to. Was going to kick the idea of a condo sinking party around when we get together on the 17th.

me and my cousin jason are coming for sure. we will be there early that morning playing around by around 9:00 or 10:00. we'll have a 16ft bass boat. so there should be room for one or two more in it. i'll bring some chips. what does every one like plain,ruffle,corn,doritos. see ya then! come rain or shine i'll be in Arkansas that weekend to fish lol!

I would suggest you get a submersable light and a light for the boat. You can get them for like 15 bucks at any of the sporting good stores. I reccomend the brinkman starfires for the price. I would also pick up one of the 1 burner wally world lanterns that uses the 1lb bottle. They work great in a boat and are handy at the house if you loose power. Dont think you will be out more than 35.00 bucks for it all.

If Diet Dr Pepper doesent come there should be plenty of room in others boats. Every single person that is commited to comming says they have room and will be glad to have the company. You might just want to check it out and get you a list of nightstalking gear you want to pick up at a later date.

Man Gooch, I wish I could make it. I love that night stalking stuff! Angie and Devin will be flying out to Washington on the 16th and I will have Laikyn for the weekend. If I can manage it though I will be fishing those famous "RAZORBACK CONDOS" at Larto! :D

One of these days I will get up there and meet some of the Arkansas gang. Sounds like all I would have to do is drive up there and leave the boat at home which would help me out alot, don't want to haul it that far. Sounds like yall have a bunch of great members that wouldn't mind sharing a boat with an old southern boy (I may have to bring some shrimp to bribe them though! :eek: :D )

I think that I will be running some yo-yo's that night (as long as I can pry Gooch's dead fingers off of them). So, I hope to run some yo-yo's and make the rounds by everyone to see how they are doing, if they need anything, if they want to move, etc...

Since I don't plan to anchor down, I will be more than happy to lend out for the evening...my anchors, a submersible light or two, and a lantern. The one thing that most should be aware of is that nightstalkin' is kindof like spider-riggin'. You need several poles out and therefore, you need some rod holders. So, I will also lend out my rod holders to the person that wants to drill some holes in his boat. I doubt that anyone will take up the offer considering the hole-drilling thing, but just let me know.


Hey Shadow, if you ever get the chance to come up here, you can leave the boat at home. That's so long as you bring me as many of those shrimp as I can eat...:D

I will do you better than that!! I will put you up for the night/nights and we can cook them shrimp on my deck. Might even invite Gooch and the rest. As long as he does not fall off my deck though. It is elevated about 16' at it's highest point. I live on the side of a mountain. Yall don't have those in Lake Charles.

As of right now, I am in! Looks like there is plenty of room, so I will come as a non-boater. i will bring a flashlight or two, 3 jig poles, and a spinning rod. Looks like drinks and chips are readily available, so I will bring some paper plates, paper towels and some forks and such. Do I need to bring my own life jacket or does everyone have plenty? What about bait? I'm assuming the bait of choice will be shinners? I can bring some bait as well. Also, will we be spider riggin via tightline or bobbers? I would like to have my poles all set up by the time I get there.

Crappieman, this gathering will be at the Little Maumelle on the West side of Little Rock. I don't know the exact location as I have never been, but i should be pretty close with my guess. Would love to have ya.

The ramp is right beside where I-430 crosses the AR river. Get off at the Cantrell exit and go West. Turn RIGHT at the first red-light onto River Mountain Road (RED RECTANGLE). Go down large hill right beside I-430. Go over RR tracks and bear left down to launch (BLUE RECTANGLE).

I had a friend coming up here this weekend but I think, due to the weather, that we'll move it back till next weekend. I probably won't be able to make this one but I 'll sure try to make the next one!

That weekend is my wedding anniversary weekend. So, the little lady may have other plans. But, if not, I'll be there as a non-boater just to hang out, have fun and see all the Arkansas Crappie Junkies. I really liked the picture in the calendar where all the night stalkers were tied one big circle. That looked like alot of fishing and fellowship.

Hey Chris, I'm in. And I guess I'll bring the big boat. 20ft deck boat. this will be the first night trip, so I hope to have her ready. Stereo. Heat maybe, GPS, 2 fish finders, ice chest.

As far as bringing your big boat, wait until we get an idea of how many folks are truely coming, and which of those will be bringing their own boats. There's no point in bringing your 20' (other than to just look at a thing of beauty:D) if there are only going to be one or two people in the boat with you...See you in the morning dude.

Great link Randy. I have found out the hard way you better know where all of that stuff is if you going to go play on the river. Its even more important at night and in the winter. You throw in the fact that the river at times can be moving 7mph and you can get in trouble in a hurry if your not careful

We wont be within a mile of the flow of the river when we are on our nightstalk. Most of the places we have are within a qarter to half mile of the launch. You wont have to ever get 50 yards from the bank on this trip and be in water you could manuver with only a trolling motor.

Hey CEB, please don't count me ENTIRELY out yet...I am trying really hard to figure something out with my job so that I can just get that entire day off and leave Rogers, AR around 10 a.m.----giving me plenty time to get up there and make a few stops on the way...I can say this, IF by chance I can come, I will be FOR SURE a non-boater...I'll be able to let you know one way or the other for sure by Monday or Tuesday next week at the very latest! As for finding us, just look for the poor guy leaning over in his pedestal chair drooling on himself (but, just don't say anything to him about it:D ). He will be in a boat that looks similar to this, just without all the vegetation...

Gooch and CEB called me out a few threads ago, and I just now got around to the registering and my first post. Been lurking around these parts for the last year or two watching the site build and all the fish being caught.

As for the nightstalk, I might come down to participate in the festivities at the ramp Saturday. Probably hold the fort down at the parking lot guarding the trucks for a while but I don't think I will be fishing. It will be nice to meet you guys and maybe get involved more. I might bring my fishing bud if I can get him off his cat hunt, otherwise I'll be by myself.

you just dont know how excited i'm getting about next weekend. I dont care if I catch a fish or not i'm getting out of the house to get the chance to catch a fish. It's gonna be a longgggggg weeeeek for me for sure can't wait. rain, sleet,snow it dont matter lol!

Welcome to the board. Glad to get you off the sidelines and in the game. You need to bring a few poles some warm clothes and join us. There will deffinately be plenty of room in a number of boats.

CEB is planning on running yoyos so he can stay mobile and monitor the hot holes and depths and he could bring you back to the landing whenever you needed to go. Not to mention you would know were the condos were for a return visit so come on out for some food and fishing Saturday.

I mostly fish Peckerwood and the White River around DeValls Bluff, but did well at the Old River at Scott early last year.

I'll have to figure out how to post pictures for in the future, this posting stuff is all new to me. I have always just sat on the sidlines to watch all the goings ons.

Thanks Slipcork. Used to Crappie fish a lot but got side-tracked on trout for a while. Took my daughter Crappie fishing last year a few times and she loved it. It would be nice to have a place so close to go wet a hook when she gets out of school. Any help you all need on building condos or sinking them, just let me know. Be glad to help in anyway I can. Not affraid of the work as long as I get to reap the benefits later. LOL
Side note: CEB should let us chip in something to defray the costs of the burgers.
