How's Missy looking ?
Plan on getting the jon boat out tomorrow to try out on the main lake, how's the water look ? I see it's just a few feet below summer pool, but is it muddy and full of debris or just stained ? Anyone been up river to the 1812 ? How's the water looking up that way ? -Thanks

Stained up river looks about right if the weather wants to corporate now.

Thanks, I'll report back .

Fished resi this afternoon at 3 locations from the bank. Ended up with about 10 keepers including 2 bluegill, most of those coming at our last stop up closer to the dam. Pretty slow day overall, did not catch many fish but all the ones we caught were nice. Could use some warmer temps but it looks like rain all week and then pretty cool again next weekend.

crappie USA tournament was over the weekend and lots of big fish caught

Caught some white bass and a few smaller crappie up river, nothing to write home about.

So what you guys think will the spawn happen with the cool weather and more rain or will the females absorb there eggs this year? Maybe a stupid question but I ask it....thanks

Here in south central Indiana, I have yet to catch a worn or beaten tail on the 400-500 crappies I have caught so far. Eggs are still firm, but I have had a doz. or more females with big orange egg sacks ready to drop, but that was 10 days ago and haven't had a female cleaned since then like that. Cool weather we been having has reversed the water temp also. Friday, it stated 62.5 and progressed up throu the day to maybe 63.8. And the majority of the keepers was coming out of the deeper water long lining as they had moved alittle deeper. Water temp before the cold weather was cracking 70. Need warm weather and it will go crazy in the big water for sure. They will spawn as its only early May. I have seen them spawn first of June before. I am sure the smaller lakes has had some decent spawning. I'm dusting off the Okuma's and crank baits tomorrow even in the rain.

Hope your rite cevans. Can't say I have put many fish in the freezer this year.

I fished the resi again yesterday up by the dam before the rain ran me off. Bite was better, caught some nice black crappie right on the bank that were turning real dark. Blacks always go first i have heard. I caught a few male white crappie that had not turned yet though. Was using blk/char stingers fished about 3 foot below a float. A gentleman showed up that i ran into in this spot on sunday and he told us after we left sunday he caught a 3 pound crappie that is at the taxi in peru. That makes 2 big fish now from the same spot in the last 4 days that i know of. There was also a big one caught earlier last week in the resi but i do not know exact location of that one. I seen that one in the freezer at the shop sunday it's a nice fish.

Good to hear, hope the colder temps this weekend don't shut them down.

Bite still decent yesterday evening, had to switch spots though as the one place is getting too crowded for me. That's the problem with that spot being so easy to get to. I did catch probably 15 blacks there before i left. Ended up fishing a cove that was full of brush and stumps. Kept 10 fish and none were under 11 inches. Threw back several 9 and 10 inch fish. Fished from the bank but there was a boat that was vertical jigging in there and they left with a 2 man limit and they were all big fish too. Said they got the first 30 trolling then came in there to the brush and picked up the rest. Weather will probably screw it up, low temp of 39 one night and high in the mid 50's this weekend.

Not been out for while and won't make it this weekend so leave a few for me. [emoji16] [emoji16] [emoji481]

There were 2' rollers on most of the lake all day yesterday, with constant 15-20mph wind and gust to 30-35mph. Had to find wind breaks to be able to spider rig, but couldn't get back into coves as the cold front moved them back out into transitional water. Still had a good day despite only reaching a high of 43* and being blown around all day. I am a Southern Indiana guy and this was my first trip there. I was impressed with the quality we caught. We really only caught about 8 short fish out of around 40. I would like to come back up and try it again sometime on a more favorable day and front.

Nice report. Where did you launch from? It's on my bucket list as haven't fished it in many years myself and when I did, it was for bass.

Red Bridge I think it was called. We stayed in the campground and there was a group that we were with who had been there since Wednesday and all had done well during the week. I had seen pics of the flooding last year, but to see watermarks on the trees/dam and the line on the bridge about 35-40' above where it is right now is crazy!! Found out the campground we were staying in was completely underwater as well. Just hard to wrap your mind around it. Didn't see much of the lake as it was to rough to move much, and the rollers were coming over the bow on the way back up to the marina/ramp. I liked what I did see though.
