How was the water at 1812 ? A week ago in was stained and a little high, no action up either. 2016 is the year of the dinks it seems.
Light stain and it was at a good level. It mite be dirty today with the rain we got.
And darned if we aren't going to get a lot more rain this weekend. Sucks.
Was up river for about an hour today and got skunked...
I caught a ton of fish yesterday around the trees by the flats fishing 5 to 6 ft deep black chartreuse jigs..caught several 12 and 13 inch females and of course a ton of dinks.
Way to catch em jig.... And welcome to the site.
I've been fishing lol I just have never took the time to post reports and things.
Tried for a while Monday afternoon in the resi. Caught 5 crappie casting. Could get nothing with jig and bobber. Water was rising about a foot and half on that day. Bait shop i go to had an absolute pig brought in yesterday from Missy. Close to 17 inches long.
Bright side....85 Saturday, but then there is the 30 mph wind gusts. I have half a mind to take up golf.
Cheaper than crankbaits

Up around 1812 area yesterday afternoon. Caught a few but didn't keep any. Nothing with jig and bobber had to cast and retrieve to catch the ones I did. Went to a private pond later and fish were up next to bank and you could bounce a jig off there heads and would not touch it????
Anybody been out? Been kinda quiet here lately....I can't get out till Saturday afternoon so don't catch em all![emoji481] [emoji481]
Was out last Sunday and yesterday from the bank at the resi and was skunked sunday and only had 3 yesterday. That cold front killed the shallow bite that was just starting to get good. Saw several other people out yesterday and all were struggling, talked to one guy in a boat and he was struggling as well. Warmer temps in the forecast though hopefully that will pick things up. Not sure what water temp is but cant imagine it's all that high with some of the temps we had the past week.
I'm heading out in the jon boat tomorrow morning early, will report back later that day.
been out the last few days. catching slabs in the shallows. 2-4fow on minnows n floats set a foot deep. they are also in the weeds. no fish on barren stretches of flat. the eggs in the few females i ccaught are ready to go. males are black as can bee too. all quality fish up shallow rite now too. all fish caught were over12" and under 13.5". all are chunky black crappie 1.5# and better. be interesting to stay on these spots and see what other sizes move in, threw the next week. it has also been a morning bite at this lake, slowing way down by noon time.
good luck today kyron4!
WTG river ....thanks for the report. Hope to get out tomorrow myself.
Go get em. Weather coming this coming week is perfect, even if it rains. Hammer time!
Got out this morning for a few hours, did OK. Water was clear for missy and right at 62*. Kept 12 that were all around the 12" mark and threw probably 8 back along with some small Lg mouth's. Mainly blacks with only a few whites, eggs ready to pop. A lot of boats out on the hunt. Weather looks good this week, hope to get on later in the week.
You did better then me. Went today and shore fished several spots up and down the resi and caught 5 small crappie, 1 bluegill and a couple bass. Not sure what to think on the spawn, i would have thought the bite would have been better today with the warm temps. 2 weeks ago was getting good fish up close, not so anymore. Going to try tuesday, more warm temps until then. Should answer my questions.
I got out for a couple hours and did about the exact same as you colt. Not sure what to think myself.
weather has been so up and down that it won't be,long and they will be absorbing the eggs
I fished Saturday evening by Pearson mill area caught 17 keepers 10 to 12 inches both black and whites fishing a chartreuse jig a foot deep around the edges. I think the bite will get better by the day especially with the warmer nights this week should be on fire.
Took my 10 year old son over this evening and fished by the dam on the resi side. Did better. Was not fast and furious but we ended up with 15 crappie and 5 nice gills. Biggest crappie was 13 inches and we had 4 that size. Caught all the big ones casting and slowly retrieving a black/chart tube jig. Bite was very light couldnt even hardly feel it, the line would just get tight like a snag. 3 females and one dark male made up the big fish. All whites. Also caught some smaller blacks that still had eggs as well. Probably the strangest part of the night was my son catching 6 crappie on half a red worm while fishing for gills. Only managed 2 on minnows. We caught quite a few bluegill, and missed a lot as well as i was trying to run 2 poles. These were 2 of the bigger crappie

Nice job colt! That's a big smile on his face. Won't be long until he will be giving fishing reports.[emoji106]
good job guys! :ThumbsUp
Took my other son over this evening. Same spot as last night and same presentation. Brought home 13 with one nearly 15 inches long.
Changed it up this evening and got a nice mess of Missy bluegills. Quality of gills seems to be up this year, we caught a couple reallly nice ones but all were solid fish. Caught them on red worms fished 2-4 feet deep. Crappie bite was non existant until almost dark. Caught 4 with only one being a keeper. Will probably try again later this week weather permitting, probably go after some gills again.
Got out on Friday, got a few nice gills, but only crappies were a few dinks. Water was clear and 72* that morning, likely warmer now.
Caught 12 slabs today , took 5 hours , but worth it. 2 was over 13 1/2 inches, still full of eggs. While taking a crappie the other pole started to move on the ground, had to step on the handle, Lol a cat bout had it:yikes
Funny how this theard started. Year of the Dink's I believe. Funny how things change. Its for sure no doubt the year of fat fish. All fish in lake are fat and healthy. Its been great that's for sure. Keep up the good work boys.
I started the thread and was just reporting what I had caught. Never said year of the dinks that's just what I caught. Maybe when I grow up I can catch fat and healthy fish like you....good job Mr. Crushed.
Holy cow. I wasn't bashing anyone. Just saying lakes in good shape. This why am not on here much. I was impressed by reports.
Not been out in awhile wondering if they are done up in the river?
eggs in them indeed. mite have been a bad spawn this year, around here. we seemed to go from 50-75* in a real hurry! many mite not have had time to romance it up.
If you have a surface temp right now of 80 degrees, go swimming and see what the temp of the water is 10' down. At 15' down its even more cold. I have wore a wet suit in the dead of summer scuba diving strip pits around clay county checking bass and fish out when it's 90 on the surface and it's very cold the deeper you go. Spawn is on but not all fish spawn at the same time and we had a colder than normal spring this year according to our weathermen. Bass are still spawning on East Fork of the White River in Martin Co. right now. Not all of the Kentuckies have spawned out yet.
