Get you some depth hunter braid and be done with it, I wrestled with line counters till I bought some Diawas, they did great. Put the depth hunter on your preferred reels and rock. This will be my third season on the same line and have lost 4 crank baits since I started using it.
I have 2 or 3 NIB Diawa 17 LC. I have a small fishing shop/business and will get you a good price if interested. PM
I use the same line to long line and power troll with.
Back on topic..what G said.
We are on topic!!
Spot on, 40 lb braid is the same diameter as 10 lb mono
Grizzly Jig in Carruthersville, MO had some inexpensive line counters, but I agree with Rees Guide.
You can buy some for about $40 each, but you will get what you pay for. I fish for Great Lakes
salmon up here in Lake Michigan and can tell you that you will probably regret it at some point,
because those inexpensive (I won't call 'em cheap) reels will fail you. Save your money and buy
yourself at the bare minimum a couple of Daiwa SG17-3B line counters. You'll be happier and you
can always have them upgraded by "Tuna Tom" in Michigan. Dave
Here's some cheap ones, but I would buy the okuma 15 or use the depth hunter line myself

I use the braid to mostly power troll and now long line. I use it also to push cranks. I use line counter reels with it but I haven't related it to the charts. I use the lifetime Precision Trolling app as a guideline, but my line out with the 20/6 probably varies from the chart. I put out different amounts of line out when I start pulling, and whatever line out starts working is where I set them all until the bite changes.
I bought some used Diawa digital line counters from ATM, and they have the Stren 10lb hi viz on them. They are accurate with the charts. Haven't found a reason to change them from that line. I will replace the line this year with the 10lb hi viz P-Line tho just to have fresh line on my reels.
FYI, the only bad thing about the braid is that when it gets tangled, You Will have to cut it off. It's hard to get untangled. It also catches on EVERYTHING being so thin, and it's bad about tip wrapping on your poles.
What John said if you use the 40/10. The problem with that is everybody either uses brands of cranks that aren't listed in the Precision Trolling charts, or they produce their own charts, some with questionable results. The Chinese blanks run great and produce tons of fish. They are really inexpensive also, but they do run a bit different. Everyone compares different baits to the 300 Bandit, but I doubt that is very accurate. It's best just to let the line out in different lengths when you start and figure it out where the fish bite with each blank or brand you use.
Another problem is that once you lose some line off you reels, the true line out from the reel changes from when the reel was full. All of the line counter reels out there figure line out from a FULL spool.
All of the charts are simply a guideline, NOT etched in stone. Lots of variables involved.

What are some good trolling pole that i can push minnows and pull and push crank-baits. I was guessing a stiffer pole would work ?
I like BnM PST's

Southern Crappie Rods came out with a pushing pole that is excellent, only draw back is it is only available in 14 foot.
Are they any pretty cheap rods? just getting into trolling hate to break the bank and not like it.
Start like most of us did, Grizzly Jig offers Pinnacles for 3 for 66 bucks, get 2 8s, 2 10, and 8 12s and you will be good to go. Use the 8 12s to spider rig with and then the 2 8s, 2 10s and 2 of the 12s to pull cranks and find you a couple of short rods for your inside pole, I have a couple of BnM 410s and they make a great inside pole. With 2 foot of separation you will have to stagger your lines by at least 10 feet so they won't tangle easy but I can't count the fish I have caught on this exact set up.
FireCast are better for that, I have had the 3 oz weights on the Pinnacles but it bows them pretty good. Grizzly has a good price on the Fire Cast too.
