KY Lake 4-24-16 Wife's 1st crank trip of the year
My wife lost a very dear friend and co-worker Friday and has been struggling with it. I told her last night she needed a crankbait trip to help her feel better. It was cool and foggy as we headed the 8 miles to my favorite ramp. We launched and only ran a couple hundred yards to our starting point.
She got one of the 1st crappie of the day;

We ended up a short trip with 10 keepers, a 16 inch sauger, one keeper LMB, and kept a couple pig channel cats. The lake got rough but as the weather warmed up, the lake lice got out like it was 4th of July. We had a large time. Now if I can just get her to remember the netting technique I spent all last summer teaching her. It takes years off my life to see her bring in a big crappie with the crankbait tangled in the net and the fish dangling below it. She'll get there.
BTW, every fish we caught were on custom painted cranks. The John Deere green was big today. We found a bunch of pre-spawn females on a 14 foot flat next to deep water but the channel cats ran us off of it.
