May have to be replacing my Terrova and since my boat is all white, started looking at the RipTide. Does anyone have any experience with the RipTide? Isn't it just basically a salt-water version of the Terrova? Are there any advantages for a freshwater fisherman that the RipTide might have and the Terrova not have? I'm looking at a 112 pound, 60"shaft with I-Pilot.
No differences in the two other than the Riptide is made for the salt environment. The seals may/may not be any better for freshwater than what's on the Terrova,
I think you can get the rip tide in 54 inch shaft Doug I know they make the ulterra in rip tide in 54 inch shaft
I may have found a deal on a 60". My current 60" Terrova looks a mile long but I sure do like being able to bury it deep when trolling.Quote:

That is what I'm hoping to do. I have a MK slide mount on the boat and bought an extra top base. A buddy of mine has an extra TM with both being on the slide bases and has offered his extra to get me going should mine fail. I recently had a wire come loose on the boat and it almost cost me a 4 person trip when the TM wouldn't run. Luckily they wanted to pull cranks and my Suzuki 4 stroke saved the day.Quote:

I pulled the trigger on the brand new 2015 Rip Tide I-Pilot that was taken off a salt-water rig and replaced with an Ultera Rip Tide before it was ever wet. I took a chance on a motor with no warranty but saved $800 over a new one of the same.
The lack of US2 is a plus for me. I use a Podunk Ideas da'ducer apparatus for my DI transducer.
That's a heck of a deal. From experience warranty probably won't be a issue.
