Hello, been lurking for a while and just now getting around for my first post. Just wanted to say I really enjoy reading all the posts and looking at all the great pics. I like to see and hear of folks catching crappie. Been doing most of my fishing out of my kayak and some off the banks. I traded for this jon boat a couple weeks ago and had a little work done to it. I am wanting to put some rod holders on it to do some trolling. It has the round gunwales and I'm not sure what would be the best route to go for some rod holders? If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks!

Call Scott, he does custom work for just about any boat. His Hi Tek rod holders are second to none! PM him under callshy.

theysaid I had a 16' about like that I put a floor in it to keep from falling over the braces I had 4 Four rod holder hi tec's screwed to the floor worked great . I also have 2 four rod holder driftmaster that I use but I don't like them as good as the hi tec's the rods stay in the hi tec's a lot better.:twocents

Thanks! Also looking for suggestions for a deep cycle trolling battery? I am planning on mounting a Minn Kota Endura C2-30 and fish/depth finder on front. Looking for a good battery that would last several hours on the water slow trolling. I read Optima's are very good, but really don't want to drop that much cash. Trying to get this thing finished out so me and my son can get it out on the water. Again, I appreciate the welcome's and suggestions.:fish

Creek in that case go Interstate batteries. Good bang for your buck. Where you located? If North Al, you and your son could come out with me and my son sometime

Welcome from north Alabama. Optima's are high. Interstate's are good. Walmart's are easy with a good warranty. I would say a good smart charger and proper maintenance is equal to if not more important than the battery choice.
