Good Luck, Hope the wind dies down for tomorrow.
Let us know although a few of us will be in Ms. come wens. I will be ready when we return. Good luck.
I haven't been but hear party cove to army rec has been good on points and along the bank.
Tough sledding today. Only caught one. Marked some on the main lake. Was getting ready to try to set up a drift on them when we noticed another boat drifting toward us. Then we noticed them catching crappie. We've never tried drifting deep water, so we slid out of their way struck up a conversation and got a couple pointers. Moved on and let them have the area. Tried some docks, some bluffs, shallow and somewhat deep. Just didn't have their number today. Hopefully it will start heating up next week after the cold spells this week.
Its funny out there right now. Fish still seem to be deep holding tight to brush, if the water warms a little hopefully they will start suspending and making nests.
Always seems to be little lull in the action a week or so before the males start their transition to shallows and turn to the "dark side"
Hang in there. I was out again yesterday and managed just 9 after I
had caught a limit the day before. Cold front passed thru Sunday night
and slowed them down. Of the 9 I caught the males had been fanning.
Stick with it, the time is getting near.
I caught my first black male fish Saturday. They should start moving up soon.
We were going to go back Friday but with the weather report we probably won't get back down until next weekend. Figure the fish will be on or near the banks by then. If not I'm coming down with 4 buddies for a guys only trip. Should be a good time either way.
working man - were they drifting with minnows or jigs? I have had some success in the past drifting minnows in open water this time of year, but that was on Truman several years ago. I don't fish with minnows much on LOZ because it is a pain to go get them, but they can make a big difference this time of year.
They were using jigs with a nib. I think we probably should have gotten minnows. I don't like using them but my past experience he been pre spawn cold fronts turn out better if I get minnows. Oh well. This was the first time I've been able to get out this year, so it was more about making sure the boat and all the equipment was good to go. Well get them next time.
