Are any of ya'll still putting glass beads on your rod tips to help hear the bite.
Negative. Never heard of doing this.
I learned it from Wiskers on the KY Forum. It does help and doesn't cause any negatives that I've seen. I put mine between the 2 and 3rd eyelet, counting the tip as the 1st eyelet.
I put mine between the tip and first eye.
I love to hear that TICK.
Nevef heard this one before. Interesting.
Never have heard of this either. Interesting :popcorn
Been using them about 4 years. No glass, to heavy. Use the bigger plastic bead stop beads. Improved my catch ratio quite a bit. Like MrDucks I put mine between second and third guide.
Learn something new everyday...this is my first to hear
I just started using them and it has increased my catch. I use a piece of 8lb line tied to the tip and the first eye. I have a fishing bead and 2 plastic craft beads on the line. Works great.
Never heard of it an can u post a pic of what yall r talking bout never seen it either
Hopefully this link will work. It was on Crappie spider rigging on facebook. https://www.facebook.com/wade.dunn.9...2014919927932/
I use a piece of braid tied between the tip and first eye. I first tie the braid to the tip, then put the braid through the hole in the plastic bead. pull it to the center of the eyes and tie a single not then run the braid back through the bead. Then I tie the other end of the braid to the first eye, leaving enough slack for the bead to dance around. I think the slack is important. Then you simply run you main line through the hole in the bead and through the tip and your done. You will hear little ticks that you can't even see. It sure increased my set ratios. I said glass beads earlier and meant plastic and I do like the larger ones. Another tip is it seems to work a little better if you run your poles with your eyes in the up position. The look of the braid through the bead and tied not keeps the bead in the center of the eyes and allows for more movement of the bead. I hope this helps. I will try to post a picture later. I'm headed to Grenada this morning and will be there till next Sunday. Gonna be like fishing in the ocean....
I have been using the bead for about five years . Always between 1and2 eye . Will try 2 and 3 now .
I never heard of this and would like a picture also. The description mb4850 gave is very good. May have to give it a try.
I use the red plastic beads and just run the mainline thru it. The less I have to do to make it work, the better I like it. Having it between the 2nd and 3rd eye takes some of the bend in the pole out of the mix.

I would need symbols to hear it..
This is the first I've heard of this also. Someone please post a pic!
Cymbals is the correct homophone of the former symbols as stated before.
Never heard of either one of these ideas - have used the idea of putting finger tips on tops of rods at the butts - can feel hit just prior to
rod moving................This i know works - had old timer show me this idea 30 yr ago
Will give the bead idea a go...............makes sense - if fishing bead "glass" or plastic - what size is it ? also do the plastic craft beads
have a size?
Will give it a try - at 75 my hearing is starting to fade just a little - the touch on rod butts helps me quite a bit
I use plastic about 3/8ths inch diameter
Best thing I have done for my catch rate. Credit to Wiskers at Pay It Forward Event.
Buffalo13 told me about the beads a few years ago. I have caught several fish, I would have missed because I had the beads on my poles.
I watched the video on the link but it's hard to see how he has it rigged. Can you just run the main line thru a few beads or do you have to tie in the separate line. I have a hard time detecting soft bites when they are deep and I am hoping this can help out.
I run just one bead, the way Wade does it by tying off with extra beads it takes the weight off your main line. To many beads will lead to your line drooping when you put it back in the water and will have problems with line wrapping around guide causing a tangle. I tried doing it Wades way but with Arturitis in my hands so bad I couldn't get it tied off tight enough so just went back to one bead. It works for me. I can hear the slightest strike even without my hearing aids.
This changed the game for me! I hear more bites than I see when I fish alone. I tie a separate piece of mono from the tip to the last eye and place four beads, two plastic and two glass alternating. It gives me something to see as well as hear. I started with the one bead on the main line but it would fall off a lot when I break off in a stump or whatnot. I won't say it works any better or worse than having one bead on the mainline but I don't have to re thread a bead when I lose a rig. Either way, it's incredible how loud that tick is on a lite bite.
Thanks guys for sharing will try this.old eyes and hearing not as good now.tips like this could help a old man catch fish.
Can you guys post some pictures please
let's see I have a red bead near my weight to attract fish now I'm gonna put a red bead between 2 and 3 on my pole. should be very interesting looking. lol
See if this works..
Looks like they tie a separate line from the tip of rod.... slide on three large beads on then tie the line off to the next eyelet down.... bead closet to tip wedges itself up against the tip and the other two beads slide freely on the line. Other beads click up against wedged bead when a strike occurs..I'm going try it..I need all the help I can get..

I have used them for years.
The person that showed me how to spider rig used them
