Only had Yamma
It's old with carbs so not a good comparison
Maybe guys with new motors
They both are top notch motors. The Suzuki is a lot cheaper but make sure there are mechanics close to you that are certified to work on them. I will most likely put a Suzuki on my tracker when I get ready to repower in the future. I have a 175 Yamaha on my walleye boat and it is a awesome motor but if I can save money and reach the same objective then I am gonna save money.
Recommend Suzuki without hesitation. You prob won't need a mechanic if you can change oil/grease, plugs and fuel filter yourself. Water pump impeller change every 2-3 years too, may need a buddy to help remove/replace lower unit. That's about it. Mines 13 years old now and still going strong knock on wood. Yamaha great engines too, but I will get another Suzuki if that says anything.
The warranty would be one deciding factor for me
Maybe post on the mechanic page. I'm sure there will be an opinion or two
Suzuki hands down just like Fisholishous said You probably won't need a mechanic if you can change oil/grease, plugs and fuel filter yourself they are that good of motor !!!
I've had great luck with Yamaha.
I got a df 140 on my ranger....love it...fuel mileage is unreal
Yamaha 4 stroke it's the only motor I trust
Not sure what size you want, but Tohatsu makes all small Mercury motors up to around 100 HP. You can save on them also, but Yamahas are hard to beat and the Suzukis are one of the quietest motors I've heard run, so good choices all around.
:donogot a 90 hp. Yamaha 4 stroke 2 yrs old no problems also got a 90 hp. 2 stroke Yamaha I think its about a 1990 no problems when I ran it has not been run in 5==6 yrs. I'm with Sam probably the best warranty is the way I would go. you cant buy nothing built in the U.S.A. anyway so what's the difference in China and Japan
My opinion is like everyone's get the one you like the most and think you'll be happy with. I got a Yamaha and it's been a darn good one 1986, 50 power pro. Only problems with it is it's old and drinks gas. Never had any real problems with it. If you keep up maintenance on any brand it will last. You do the picking that way you can't blame us! LOL Yamaha, Yamaha, Yamaha, Yamaha, Yamaha, Yamaha and Yamaha :scratchhead
Get the suzuki offering 6 year warranty, and better gas savings on cruising speeds..
Hey Dawgg , I must have missed something. Did you say Yamaha or was I hearing things ?
You want relieable, good on gas, life time warranty get a set of oars. And they are cheap
Use a drift sock like a sail and let the wind do the work
I see you got one already !
Congrats

Anybody ever tell you THAT YOU AINT RIGHT ?:Rofl
Yep
But they weren't right either
When i bought my boat, the dealership carried yamaha and mercury. A good friend in mn loved his yamaha and no issues after 10 years. Mercury on the other hand, my cousin had bought a brand new mercury four stroke the summer before me and for no apparent reason would just shutoff, my parents mercury on their pontoon did the same after two summers only. The decision was simple for me and the yami has been great. I havent heard much about the suzukis but am seeing alot more of them on boats.
To me any of the Japan motors are good. I've ran Nissan/Tahatsu and Yamaha without any problems.
The reason I said make sure you know where there's a factory mechanics is before I put my Yamaha on my current boat it was on my sea pro and some how got water In the gas tank if under warranty the factory would not cover the cost of repair unless done by certified mechanics. Probably will not ever need a mechanic but we never know when some thing happens that we have no control over this repair was about $600.00
