Has anyone figured out a good way or seen a good way to route and secure an external transducer cable on the xi5 or ulterra?

He makes a neat Setup using the air hose idea above (with custom CNC brackets to attach to the TM) ...

Does the MG not have a slot in the shaft ? Most of the guys with MK motors run the cable up the slot in the shaft. Held in place with RTC seal.
This is a neat idea though, and would protect the cable.
The motorguide xi5 nor the Ulterra have the channel in the shaft to run the transducer cable in. I wish they did. I'm going to follow up on rnvinc's suggestion though.
Or do it yourself
It's time consuming but very doable.
I've done it 2x
Easier 2d time
Coiled hose
I have the shorter shaft
54" ?
I think it takes about 6 coils
And it's tight
Will do. Thank you. I need to go out and measure what is on there now. I originally thought I would get the 60" but that is good information to have.
This is going on a ranger 178c.
Has anyone tried the Da ducer on a 178c?
I've got the 60inch shaft mounted on a triton tr21 xd series. When the winds blowing, I have to use the whole 60"of shaft. I can only get five raps, but it doesn't matter, 10 wouldn't be enough either. (if you try to put to many wraps, the locking mechanism will release while travelling at high speeds, hitting waves. I've use 5 raps on the shaft and have several more, with them mounted to the side of the slide bracket. (you will probably need some kind of a slide bracket, also)
This is all great information! Thank you.
As I read all of the previous posts and links that are approximately a year old, I noticed a number of reports of issues with the foot pedal and failures of the xi5 motor from the factory. Is this something that has been corrected at the factory?
i have been on the fence between the terrova and xi5 for a little while. I was close to pulling the trigger on the xi5 but questioning if I would be better off with the mk if there are still bugs in the xi5. (Realizing there are compromises with both and know there can be a few slip through QC from any manufacturer...)
Thanks again!
