good?? Bad??
I fished it one time last year and caught alot of small ones.
Was hopeing for a little better report---but maybe the little ones are now legal size:-)
Fished it today, caught 5, all small ones.
A few years ago it was a hot lake. Give it another 3 or 4 years it will be good again
That is a long time lol...I have fishing on my mind and don't know where to go.....
Not sure where your from but around wave land you have raccoon and cataract that hold some big ones
Wave land was a Great Lake to fish 25 yrs ago, and famous last words are give it 2-3 years and it will be good again. Just don't hold your breath. Fish the Coon or Cat. Raccoon has nice stripers in it also.
I am from Indianapolis----so been fishing brookville the last few years and HATE IT--but since hubby is pilot I go with the flow---LOL But he's always looking for the "alleged" walleye that are there--cough snort cough--and we do love crappie--my folks had a private lake and we nailed them every year as dad only had a few people fish it, but they moved 2 weeks ago to Florida---so now looking for a good crappie lake:-)
Guest, Morris, Eagle Creek around Indy then Catarract, Raccoon, Lake Lemmon, but it's 20 to launch. Monroe, at Bloomington is a little toughie and Patoka can also be and north of Indy Sallimonie and the Missie can be good also. Lots of choices. If you know some one living on Heritage to get permission, it's a good lake for crappie as well as bass and walleye, but private and the one living on it has to fish with you.
I fish eagle majority of time bc its only 20 mins away from me. And id say not to rule out eagle. I catch plenty of fish outta there...just gotta know where the fish are
It takes time on the water your fishing to learn the lake and where structure is. Believe me I have gotten skunked a few times out there as well....and this time of year its hit and miss. I went to eagle today and only caught one but it was a nice 11inch black crappie....look for them holding really tight to structure and cover.....If your not loosing a few jigs your not fishing it tight enough.
I fished eagle creek 25 yrs and never had much of a problem catching lots of nice crappie let alone bass. There's nice walleye in it now. Try long lining jigs, green and black, flow green tubes and curlie tails, hair jigs of all colors work also, launch and go to the West Bank and follow it from the dam all the way to 56th street. Even the east shore can be awesome. From now to Race Day, it's only going to get better. You need to base your trolling speed from about 0.8 to 1.5 mph but at this time of the year, slower is better. River channel is on the west side. I haven't fished it since 2003, but it's still a great small lake to fish.
I live 5 min from Lake Waveland I havent crappie fished it in 2 yrs due to the fact that it was fished out.I would go out with 5 dozen minnows and be out of bait within 2 hrs and only have 3 fish over 9".I do believe it is starting to turn around for the better this year because i have seen several crappie caught this year over 13" from Lake Waveland
