BUSY DAY 3/21/16
Took my son to my reservoir, we caught nothing but bass and that was slow. So we came back home and we made some crawfish traps. Then made some Creekslick DIY rod racks. Then made some crappie condo's. And then it had warmed up some so just before dark we went to put crawfish traps out n my reservoir. Cooper said he wants to fish, so we broke out the cork and minner. Caught 10 from one spot in about 15 minutes! ALL BIG! Smallest one was 12 inches. Everything else was well over 14 inches. Best 7 fish weighed 14.08lbs! All males. I guess the water had warmed some by the end of the day to make some move up. Once it started slowing....we left so I had time to clean the fish and put up all my tools from the day. It was a very busy, but EXCELLENT DAY!

Don't know what happened with the double post of the story up top.

Sounds like a great day. I like seeing families enjoying the spring fishing together.

Must be nice to have a private lake . Your growing some good fish . I see you cut some buckets in 1/2. We cut them into then put lids on top 1/2 . Plenty enough weight to sink them . I use mill scraps of hardwood or red Cedar , what are you using ?

Thanks guys!!!
I cut one bucket in half to see how that turned out. From now on I will be doing that since it looks like yours turn out great! I used my crepe myrtle limbs that I trimmed. Nice and straight with no tiny branches to get hung on. Hahahaha killed 2 birds with one stone. Cut all my neighbors crepe myrtles for free and then I get free wood too! I dont know if crappie like crepe myrtles, but was gonna try it and see how it did.

It is very nice having some private reservoirs. I will say though, I dont fish them much anymore now that I have my boat and electronics. I like fishing different and new places. Makes me feel like a better fisherman when I'm not catching, as my friend calls it, TAME FISH. Mississippi lakes are less than 2 hours from me, so I am learning as much about them as I can.
