Johnson Crappie Pic/Tip Contest #1606 ends 4/10/2016 - post best fish pic or tip

Simply post a Crappie Picture in this thread, or post a Crappie "Catching" Tip in this thread and you are automatically entered in the raffle. You are allowed a post a day.

When the raffle is over, we will pick a random thread page number and then we will select the best pic or tip on that page. So this contest is a little different, a little random, bot not completely random. So post a good pic, or post a good tip, to win.

If you make more than one post in this thread on the same day, only your first post made that day will count. If a disqualified post number happens to be chosen, another random number will be selected.

If you are without a boat and you need to get your "crappie fix" on you can always fish from the bank during this time of year. The crappie are shallow for spawning and are easy to catch in 1-5 feet of water. Use a small bobber and small split shot with a #1 or #2 aberdeen hook with a minnow attached drives crappie crazy. Grab a kid and take them with you and find some nice crappie this time of year!

If you plan on using fish attractants like Johnson's Crappie Buster Shad Scales you will need to apply the attractant directly to your lure before lowering it into the water. Use it sparingly but cover the lure enough to make sure the scent will slowly leak off the lure attracting the crappie. The "shad scales" or bits of glitter fall off the lure as the scent disapates and the glitter looks like scales of a fish being attacked or hurt. It works great and I use it often!!!

Live bait catches more fish than dead bait so use lots of water and make sure to change it every so often to keep the oxygen high. If you can't put the bait in the water consider buying a small air pump to circulate air replenishing oxygen keeping the bait alive.
