Has anyone had problems with the Bearing Buddy popping off every other week? I lost one coming home from the Lake a little over a week ago, replaced it and the minute I left the bait shop this morning I heard this bad screeching noise. I got out and looked and another one missing on the same tire. Oh what a day!
had mine on for 12 years and have never had one come off. three sizes, you must have the wrong size.
I had a mechanic shop put the 1st 2 sets on for me. I'm hoping that's it(wrong size) but now this is going to be a different mechanic this coming time.
Why can't you do it yourself. They just tap on.
There is a recent post in the mechanics corner about the same issue of them coming off.
I had them on , too. They want stay on, I took mine back off. Luckily Mine came off in the drive way both times and I found them later. Later I put them on my john boat trailer, now, they have come off it, too.
You can put too much grease pressure on them. As soon as the spring starts moving, you should stop adding grease. The first ones that I got, I put too much pressure on them and I lost one.
Read the other recent post about bearing buddies. They had several fixes it. It was posted by Rees Guide on 3/5 in the mechanic corner boats, motors and trailers.

I dont know how my Ranger trailer axle is built but I add grease until I see a little bit running out the inside of the trailer and quit. Works for me...

Mark I repacked mine and I had to take hub off several times because the back seal wouldn't seat. After that the hub covers would not stay on. I put new one on and they fit much tighter. I think over time they loosen when taken on and off a few times.
FYI
there is water proof grease that won't break down when it gets wet
