Finest Man I Ever Knew
About an hour ago the finest man I ever knew passed from this life. Not only was my father-in-law, Harold Newsom, a fine Christian man...he was a master crappie fisherman! With a 14' jon boat, wooden paddle, and jig pole with a red headed green jig, he would go out on Lake Erling by "the burned stump" and wear them out! He said if that thump didn't do something for you they could throw dirt in your face.
He will be greatly missed!

Mr. George, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers for several days. Dear heavenly Father, I lift up my friend and his family to You. Wrap Your loving, caring arms around them. Let them feel Your presence and Your strength in their lives. Comfort them with Your peace and encouragement over the next few days, weeks, and months that lie ahead. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!

Sorry for your loss George..and prayers sent to your family....

Sorry for your loss but what a memory he left behind. None of the hi-tech complicated stuff needed to catch fish. A jon boat, skulling paddle and one jig pole. I knew a few folks like that and remember them fondly.
May God bless on hold you through this time.

Sorry for your loss George.

Sorry for the loss, I'm sure my aunt & uncle knew him if he fished that lake a lot.

Sorry for your loss. But the memories can not be taken away.

Thank you all for your kind expressions of sympathy! Indeed Mr. Newsom left some mighty precious memories. He was most known for living and sharing his faith, and for devoting himself to serving his community as educator, coach, principal, school board member, and president of the school board. He was an expert gardener, extremely skilled domino player, notable storyteller, and lover of LSU sports. He lived 89 years, 5 months.
As his funeral procession passed in front of the Sarepta school the entire student body and staff lined the road to pay their respects. Very touching!
God bless you all!

Sorry to hear of his passing. I think 'in-laws' get a bad rap sometimes, as they can often be closer than birth family. Prayers to you and your family.
