I guess our delta has been dead with all the high water. Has been for me
Me too! It's been like this for so long the fish probably now think this has become the norm. All the signs show that they should be bedding and if the water don't go down soon we are going to miss the most of it.
And more rain in the forecast. :banghead
Anyone had success at Big Creek Lake? I'm considering it but it's a good ways over there and sounds difficult to fish.
Fish gotta eat high water or not. If it's safe go get them.
The water is on the fall now so I think I'll give em a try Friday I hope. Got honey dos tomorrow and supposed to rain. Been down so long I've got to get my self motivated.
I thought you been in cajun land.
OH yea but just a little two day trip last weekend. We don't stay away from home too long. I'm all the time watching the water here.
Hey D. My friend Rocky was really talkin up Toledo Bend last weekend. My wife's Mama is from Many. May have to go down there one spring and look for kin folk and do a little fishing.
Well I finally found a few fish and some clear water yesterday. It was high but not out in the swamp where I was at (Smith Creek). Caught a good many fish for only fishing the afternoon, didn't leave home until 12:30 and was back home by 5:00. Brought 5 home to clean for supper tonight. One was 10.5 inches and a male, the other 4 was all 13 to 14.5 inches, females and 3 of those were full of eggs, so maybe they are not near through bedding. If the water falls as predicted, next week should be good, but I've been saying next week for so long, I've begun to sound like a broke record.
That's encouraging. I went to Bayou Sara this morning and fished Little Catfish Bayou for two hours and only caught two channel cats. I guess I'll just have to be patient till the water turns around up here, looks like next week like you said, I hope. The fish I caught in Chippewa last week still had good eggs in them.
I fish the delta a bit but I'm not familiar with smith creek. If you don't mind, what area is that in? Glad to hear someone caught some in the delta, I haven't had any luck since December but haven't been much.
