Does anyone have any idea who it is? I've been striper fishing in this state since early 80's. I've gotten to know the bait guys pretty well. Buying bait or catching bait with them. I've even sold bait myself. I put a call in to an upstate dealer but haven't heard back.
Young mans name is mitchell. (Has a full beard)Works for lake hartwell outdoor center. Extremely nice guy. Ive spent lots of time talking fishing with him. He was always willing to share his up to minute fishing reports, and pictures from his fishing. He has a wife and baby. God works in weird ways. Prayers for his friends and family. Kind of really makes you think, when he died catching bait so anglers like myself could go fishing. I'll try not to ever complain about the price of bait anymore. God bless!!
Sad, very sad. Prayers to his family.
They suspended the search according to the family so there asking for anyone with boats to help.
If anyone was fishing near the Russell dam or knows someone who was fishing near the dam Saturday night please call lake hartwell outdoor center. They are just trying to find answers to what might have happened. No new news as of today.
Still hoping they find him alive and well somewhere.
Any answer could bring some kind of relief. Keep praying!!!
Copied from family facebook..Today, was another day of searching for Mitchell D. Gibson without any new results. If you or anyone you know was fishing at Richard B Russell and saw a green SeaArk boat with Sodium lights, fishing anywhere on that lake, please -please contact someone. If you witnessed a boat, even if you aren't 100% sure going in or out of the area, please let us know the approximate details. As of 7pm last night, DNR officially ended the full day searches for our baby brother, and the youngest baby son of our parents. Starting today, they will continue to ride once each morning, once each evening in the event that something may change. If you or anyone you know may be around Richard B Russell lake, please keep a lookout for Mitchell Gibson. Mitchell was a fisherman by trade and was seen at the Calhoun Falls 7-11 around 9:20pm or so. He then put his boat in at Beer Creek Garden landing around 9:30pm. The next day (Sun) Mitchell never arrived back at the landing. His truck and trailer were still at the landing. He was spotted fishing during the night at the 72 bridge and tied to the guidelines at the dam. He sent a text around 10:30pm on Sat night saying he was catching bait near Manor Creek landing. On Sunday, his jacket with cellphone and life jackets were found between markers 14 and 16. Later on Sunday, a cast net and misc fishing items were found under 72 bridge. Over the past few days, that whole lake has been grid checked with sonar on multiple boats, multiple times. GA DNR brought in a bottom scanning sonar without any results. At this time, we still haven't found Mitchell or the boat. The boat is a green 24ft SeaArk with a large white bait tank. Please pray and if you or someone you know may go on that lake or around that area, just please keep a lookout for Mitchell Gibson and the boat.

Really sorry to hear this, for anyone, but especially painful when you can put a face with a name. Have bought bait from Mitchell several times in the early AM and he was always helpful and polite. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
