Tell everyone the Other/Best Part!!!!
That you have a Barge to drop all this stuff! :):):)lol
When we did our reefs, we had to have an Armada of boats to haul 5 gallon buckets of rubble out, then the Concrete blocks, then the bricks....trip after trip!
You'll be able to load up, haul out, and then dump and be done! lol
We do have a barge and diving equipment, we will drop all of the material and the dive and build it like we want it.
I wonder what people will think 1000 years from now when they find head stones in a lake 20' deep.
Make sure you have a video camera in another boat when you do this. I would LOVE to see it.
This is my biggest project, we are about 2 months out from drop and I will post pics as it happens. I hope this will hold fish its a lot of work going into this.
Like I said, you are building a Freshwater "Buffet" for the predators in your lake!
Just sitting there in the pics, look at all the nooks and crannies, that will soon be home to craws, minnows, fry etc.! Freshwater Sushi and lobster for all those hungry fish you've been catchin'!
You have too much time on your hands haha dang that's a lot of work to catch a fish... I barely have time to fish much less accomplish something like this. It'll pay off in the long run though :ThumbsUp
Strong back and weak mind

Tried to get info on sinking structure here in Michigan. Seems the DNR and the EPA need to get involved, permits pulled, studies done, etc. Is it that way it the south? Funny thing is, you can't put any foreign matter into a river, stream or lake but when you move a spearing shanty you mark the old hole with Christmas trees and brush and that is accepted.
Our lake committee contacted ldwfp and they told us what we could and couldn't use we are able to use tires rocks metal woody and plastics I'm sorry for the typing but my phone will not let me put commas period etc
Ms is a more strict than la la seems to be real lax
Pretty cool I think
To add cover to our home lake in SW Ohio, we had to get permission from the ODNR, State Park Management, Army COE, and ODNR fisheries dept....we couldn't use metal or tires, only wood or plastic with attached screws in the bottom and then in concrete bases. Trees, brush blocks, etc., had to be cabled and clamped to blocks...they wanted "overkill" so cover could not break free and cause an issue with boaters, or the dam!
Will you be adding any wood to the rock pile such as some type of vertical wood and horizontal wood?Bet them slimers gonna like that rock pile also.Sure would love to see a video of the entire drop. That would be awesome!Congrats on all the hard work you are putting into this project and be safe!
I have lots of cedar planks for steak beds and will be adding tires on both sides of the rock refee
THIS will be AWESOME ! allow me to "suggest' going to either a demolition site and/ or building supply place and get your hands on as many buckets of 3 hole and 10 hole red bricks that you can to absolutely LITTER your reef with ! read a story in a fishing magazine (cannot remember which 1 ) about a guy in Tennessee whom gradually built 20- 25 "mini" reefs on his home lake and rarely fished them except during tournaments and did very well in 15- 20 tournaments in a row, winning many. he was invited to fish other tournaments on other lakes but never did very well elsewhere, just his "home" lake. when someone lowered a camera onto his "honey holes' after he left several during the next contest he admitted to building them but the judges ruled that it was technically not "illegal' even if it was at least slightly "questionable". his real `secret` was littering them with the 3 and 10 hole red bricks and then dumping a bucket full of live crayfish from the same lake on top of them thus "jump starting" his "crayfish condos". apparently bass and other fish quickly learn that they can easily suck a mudbug out of those holes very easily. perhaps not surprisingly using a crayfish type lure did rather WELL on them... would have to think that using SOFT CRAWS on them would make for some fast and furious action ! !
Adding boo to the tombstone structure http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m.../image_31.jpeg
drilling the 4 holes in the outside bottom of the buckets 90 degrees apart and putting 2 pieces of 30" long PVC in an "X" will help keep them upright. otherwise they look GOOD ! now just add 10- 25 fow !
.Note several years back when state of Texas had a big drought one of the very large lakes located north of Sherman tx near border water level dropped to also nothing and parts of a cemetery appeared in what was 20 feet of water. According to news article they did relocate some caskets that appeared. picture in paper showed headstones & parts of caskets showing. Sister in TX showed me paper on a visit down there.
You my friend, have built some very fine cover....those wide planks, big limbs, Big PVC, and 'Boo tops, plus mixing them, is perfect....you are providing the exact type of cover that will draw and hold those BIG Louisiana Slabs!
Looks awful heavy , try cutting buckets in half then put lids on top half . Double the number able to make and use less concrete . Built 50 last month

They are going in and was approved by ldwfp
He has a deep lake with recreational boaters.
Josh and his group, has already loaded the shallows with bait fish and fry cover. Now he is filling deep water areas.
He cannot lessen the amount of weight, the cover cannot be given a chance to break free!
His oxbow was void of cover, they are covering the entire lake and all depths, TO MAKE THE ENTIRE FISHERY HEALTHY....not just making honey holes!
Sir Intimidator need to tell you his TRUE story about fishing "CC" ("Crayfish Condo") #1 at CJ Brown...come on Brent, spill your guts and come clean ! Let him know what to expect for littering it with the 10 hole red bricks...

These won't move with 1/2 buckets of concrete . INTIMIDATOR
He can't use 1/2 bucket with the material he's using....NIMROD!
AGAIN, he (and his group) are not making a personal honey hole like you and your stakebeds....he's trying to IMPROVE his ENTIRE lake, by increasing the fish holding capability....he has plenty of young muscle to put this kind of BIG cover in.
The BIG limbs, planks, posts, etc, are being done to last for many years....he is doing this project the right way and MAKING SURE everything stays safely submerged....why scrimp when he can do it right.
