need hep and advice

OK....its time. I have to get a wider boat. My TX17 tracker just isn't wide enough for double riggin. Where, anymore, can a guy commission a builder to build his boat with the amenities specific to that boat. Is that done any more and does it require a first born male child to get it done? If I could find JUST the boat used I'd consider that, but it's always boat, motor, everything already on it. I want to put my NEW Yammie and electronic and TM, new batteries, etc on the new/different boat. I'm finding that hard to to....HELP!! Wannabe where are you when I need you....lol.

Should not be a problem unless you are cutting into the floatation space. Even then you may be able to go "commercial" and get it done.

Check craigslist in sporting goods and boats. I search a 200 mile radius for what I want.

If you got the money, they got the boat. F&F is sorta famous for building anything you can dream. War eagle, xpress etc can take a standard boat and modify it by a wide margin. Then there's some new kids on the block that I sorta have a crush on, Edge, Havoc etc. All of these would work with you on customization.....$$$$.

Now these are basic metal boats..no carpet,little storage (relative) and you still get the metal boat ride.

The tax 17 you riding is severely pinched in the nose, despite the nice beam at back. Most of the ones above will carry more beam forward, but if you stick on 17 long, you will most likely be limited. 18 is generally the next notch for the wider beams.

Personally, on a budget, I'd be looking for a good duck boat without a motor and a good metal shop to do anything really custom.

I've got the looks and you got the money though.

Take a look on line at SeaArk boats.....they are wide up in front area....can be bought with a 16 degree hull angle for smooth ride. Thats what I have and its a great crappie boat. They will also do modifications.

Jimmy, if budget constrains you on a custome you might look at the 18 Lowe Stinger series. They have quite a bit of room up front for a production boat. And I have yet to talk to anyone at the ramp that did not like them for width and stability. Don't pay any attention to WB, he just trying to drum up some lone business.

Cray....yeah I know bout WB. lol Here's what I found. 1999 Xtreme, with nearly new trailer. Ill take just the boat, trailer, and they'll install my new Yammie, TM, all my electronics, my new batteries, and have it water ready for $4300. There are a couple nicks on it, but NOTHING serious at all. Carpet is excellent condition. It's 88" beam and 64" bottom. Cosmetically it looks REAL nice. Plenty of room for two spider rigs up front. Was bought new, one owner, garaged, used 3-4 times a year. What ya think??

If the front end suits your needs then probably not a bad deal. Most of your cost is them doing all the rigging and if done right worth it. But I would sure set down with the installer and go through how you want wiring done and batteries installed. All the little things. Got any pictures? Also how does it compare to the Tracker as far as storage and room to get around inside?

Cray, I spent 2 hours with the installer dude today. Convienced me he was pretty sharp. I know him and have no problems with his work, it'll be right. Cray, they're both basically 17' boats, but width wise you could put my little Tracker inside this boat. All said and done, I actually got into this different boat for $3200. clean. Installer is moving some lids to open up the "other' way, and wiring a storage area for a live well I'm having made, and some other little things. Plenty happy. We'll see how it handles on the water on Mar. 18....headed to back to Washington. Thanks for all your input. This actually came together MUCH quicker than expected. Yeah!!!!

Sounds like a fantastic deal. Don't you love it when a plan comes together and doesn't break the bank. Take some pictures when you get a chance.

I bought a SeaArk and then added two pedestal bases up front just where I wanted them in order to spider rig. I had them reinforce the floor and weld the bases in. I am big 280 and my fishing partner is bigger. I had a 20 footer and have since gone to a 240. It was more for the room in the back for cat fishing than anything but both boats were fine for crappie.
