Can thou put a big boat in at first 2 ramps??
Not yet. You need about 252' minimum.
No way. Road to Indian mound is flooded also. Use Wyatt's or Holliday.
Thanks Hotrod!!!
May be some people still at the Indian Mound or Mounds I should say, several people got stuck there today
Dude 24 thanks for your response
That's crazy. Last Sunday it was almost over the tires driving out there. Iam sure there was a few stuck today.
Warm sunny day Boyzz think dem Ol trucks are hovercraft or something!!!
What was water temp today?
Hurricane Landing No. 1 258.80 No. 2 249.40 No. 3 Indian Mound 240.00
Lake is 249.9" now. No. 2 ramp is still 2' away from use. No. 1 ramp is usable at 260'. You have to allow for silting in on COE lakes.
The ramp by the camp ground is dry ground. The ramp on the point is mud and silted in. You got about 20' to the creek from ramp. The creek is 6" to 12" deep from the ramp to lake for about 200 yards. I called the corp Monday and asked them to dig out the mud at the ramp because they had 2 big track hoes that were about 100 yards away they said they would look into it. Tuesday they loaded them up and left. Still got mud.
they were hauling rocks to the mound last monday when i was fishing.
water temps were early low 50's then afternoon mid 50's
Did y'all catch any fish???
No fish for me or any other boats I saw. Takes 252 to get a boat in at ramp number 2 and then you have to follow ditch or low place to get out at Hurricane. The Corp made two more Indian Mounds and messed the road up to the Indian Mound and you have to be really careful out there now because of the ruts they created. 253 is safe and above at Hurricane, but you still better watch what direction you take off in a hurry.
Are the Indian Mounds the rip rap rock i see out from Hurricane? What is it's purpose and why did Corp build more?
Yeah I heard about that parking lot. I wish they would have dug that mud out first. Would have only taken a hour. Oh well rain coming this week that should get it usable.
Two more Indian Mounds created next to the one that has always been there. Found artifacts there last year and did a study or a dig or something, now we have 3 white poles out there and rip rap and rock on all 3
Yep parking lot at old Sardis road for drunks and felacious illegal activity!!!
Although any like rock applied equals structure for fish. Also if crushed limestone is applied it will help water quality a little.
I tell you what that parking lot there making is going to be where there going to right tickets for all the drinking. Now the county and state boys can drive out there and take care of business. Lots and lots of drinking goes on out there.
You will never SEE that in Lafayette county!!!!!
It's the ultimate Bubba Hook up Scenario!!!!
To get the ramps cleared you can contact the Resource Manger at each of the lakes. The request is filed and sent to the Vicksburg office. Talking to a COE officer last night it would be quicker to send the request to the Vickburg Resource Manger and maybe not lost from one lake to the other. No work on any one lake is done without permission from Vicksburg except emergencies.
where are they talking about building a parking lot. I know Sardis and live not to far away, just not familiar with old Sardis Road
They had equipment right there, I have no idea why they did not dip out ramp number 2 at hurricane. they just do not care obviously.
Old Sardis road is where hwy 314 to Clear Creek on the way to the lake at first curve in the road . Go straight on that county road that ends in the lake bed. Before the corps put in the road to the concrete ramp we put jon boats in at the end of the road hence the name old Sardis road!!!!
thanks
Can you put in off first 2 ramps yet???
Yes you can. Both of them.
