Can someone tell me the best map card for Ky. I bought one but it only has Ky. Lake Taylorsville. But doesn't have green. Thanks
Might depend on which brand/model unit you're using it in :dono
My Lowrance Elite 5DSI basemap has contours for Taylorsville @ 7/17/27ft depths (I currently don't have a card for the unit, but would buy one if it had contours for the lakes I fish)

What FF/GPS are you running? And what card did you buy that only has Kentucky Lake and Taylorsville?
Humminbird 1199
Lake master it has a bunch of lakes I think it's the south states not sure. Ky and taylorsville and green is the only one I've been on with it.
HB Southeast States V3.0 shows these lakes as being on the map card :
Barren, Cannon Creek, Cave Run, Taylorsville, Beaver, Greenbo, Malone, Nolin, Grayson, Barkley Lake, KY Lake, & Green River Locks 1 thru 3, (but not the lake ??).
Info taken from here : http://www.humminbird.com/uploadedFi...UTHEAST_r1.pdf
For my money, that chip is useless. That's just my :twocents but I mean ... why the heck isn't Green River LAKE and Cumberland Lake on that card :scratchhead

My partner chad (crappiehabits) has been doin alot of research and with navionics you have a year to add whatever lakes you wish and they are covered in 1ft contours. We were not able to find a card that gave hd and shaded relief mapping for our lakes in central ky I don't think. I'll tell him to chime in.
In order to have 3d and satellite overlay a hot maps platinum card must be purchased. Problem is the east card that covers ky, doesn't cover mississippi and Alabama. The navionics plus card doesn't offer 3d and satellite overlay but you can download whatever lakes you want for a yr. It has 1 ft contours. All the waters we fish are HD lakes with navionics.
This is the message he sent me the other night after his research. If I remember correctly hot maps platinum is 200 and nav is 150.

That's hot maps platinum capability

That's navionics plus capability
Hope that helps you guys.
Navionics lists most lakes in ky as high definition lake, including t ville, grl, Cumberland, ky lake, Barkley, barren River lake, cave run and several others I can't remember. The hot maps platinum east card includes Ky. and includes 3d and satellite overlay capable mapping on all the HD lakes along with 1ft contours and hi def sonar charts. I believe that card is $199.
The navionics plus card comes with nautical charts only I believe, but the best part about it is for the first yr after purchase, you can download the mapping data from any lake in any state that you want for free. This card offers 1 ft contours and sonar charts but no 3d or satellite overlay.
Let me say that I am in no way literate when it comes to these map cards. This is just info that I've collected through recent research. We are also in search of a good map card and navionics is the only one I've found that offers all of the ky lakes we fish in high definition. We will likely end up with the navionics plus card so we can download the data from out of state lakes that we fish that aren't included in the platinum east card.
Thanks for the help. I guess I'll go with navionics plus.
I use Navionics card on my Lowrance units. 1 ft contours on about every lake in Ky. Here is the link for their free Webapp https://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#@6&key=yff}E%60rijO

I only fish KY and Barkley and my past experience with Navionics on those is nothing but bad. Their maps are close in some bays and several feet off in others. I've lost enough tackle due to the inaccuracies to pay for several cards. Lakemaster V2 and above only for me down here.
Thanks for all the help
