Smithville 2/27

Hit the docks Saturday morning. Possibly the lightest bite of the year! Did figure them out finally though. Ended up a couple short of a limit but close enough.

Small part of them can be fished free, but the biggest parts of the docks with private boats are only fishable by slip renters or by people in boats. They have gates that can be opened via code.

Twain none of them can be fished for free , you either have to lease a space or during the winter you can buy a pass for the docks that aren't private I think its 25.00 dollars for the winter.

I didn't know you could buy a pass for winter fishing on the docks. I assume they have to also pay to just park their car in the lot? That is good to know. I always buy a season parking lot/ramp pass (hang tag this year) for $120 some dollars for vehicle and boat and fish from my boat, but didn't realize they had separate fees for dock fishing alone. That makes sense now, considering some of the guys I see fishing the slips likely don't spend the amount of money to rent a boat slip by the year. One boat owner was complaining to me about the fishermen on the docks and thought they were the ones breaking into the boats on occasion-which I don't see them doing, honestly.

You can only fish the docks with the store it dose not let you get on the other docks. the only way to get on them to to rent a slip or maybe know someone that rents. and I agree I don't think the fishermen are the ones that stealing.

Gotcha- the unsecured dock areas are the only 'cheap' areas to dock fish. They get you coming and going. I assume there has been some cover planted in the unsecured area dock fishing areas.
